Coming up on a year

Hi All...

My one year sobriety date is coming up. I am extremely excited about it. I never thought I could stay clean/sober for a week. So a year was unthinkable.

I am a little worried about AFTER the first year anniversary. To me the goal has to make it a year. So then what? I know.....meetings, steps etc.

I have known people who have celebrated their anniversary with a drink. I do NOT want to do that.

I am worried about it being anti-climactic.

I just wanted to put this out there and get yall's feedback.:ghug

One thing I have learned is that whatever is going on in my head needs to be spoken (or typed)

Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Great news on the year of sobrity coming up.

After I hit my year, I was amazed that it even happened. But I found that my life was better that first year. I did not have any regrets to worry about. It was finding peace with myself.

My goal was to make it 10 years because my step dad did that before he died. I thought if he could do it so can I. This is the beginning of my 8th year and I love my life today. Best part is that I do not miss my old self at all.

Hey Tan,

I'm glad that you're thinking ahead - I do remember feeling a little let down after my 1 year celebration. I had thoroughly enjoyed all the attention I got leading up to my medallion, and I think my ego got too used to it lol. I made sure I got involved in a BB study with other women, and got active working with newcomers and other service work. Helped with humility, and helped me to continue along the path to sobriety after I passed that first milestone.

Tanya,

You give me hope! (I have 41 days now) You should celebrate with a cake, and just try to savor the moment. You have given you and your family a year of YOU! The you being sober, even with all of your flaws, etc. What a wonderful memorable year. Maybe you could make a list of all the things you are thankful for?

Happy New Year! blessings, Sheila

Tanya,
1 year is great and a gift!! Keep focusing on the journey and on year 2, remember that there's more growing and learning. Keep on stepping in that 2nd year just as you did the first and then you'll be wondering about your 3rd year... all exciting.

But, remember how we get there...

One day at a time. Enjoy this day along the journey!

Goals are great, so don't stop making them. But always remember that you can only count on today and not drinking for today! Then how amazing is that, all of those todays add up to 365 todays you made it through. That is so great!

it seems like i spent every minute of my first year waiting for my anniversary. i did have a little bit of a let-down after that. i had spent so much time and energy dreaming of the day i got my 1-year coin that i didnt know what to do afterwards. in the weeks preceeding my anniversary i was having intense dreams.

but i perservered and have experienced some incredible times this second year. now im 29 days away from having my 2nd year anniversary. wow its been such a crazy journey!

congrats on the year anniversary! keep plugging away!!!!!
