TOPIC: Believe In Yourself And Reap The Rewards In Recovery.
Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
By the Grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found it
necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.
For that and you I am truely
grateful.
"Slowly and painfully, I became aware of myself. I began
to see it wasn’t true that I didn’t believe in anything. Rather,
I had believed in the wrong things … 'There is good in all of
us. Seek it out, nurture it, tend it, and it will flourish.' So I
began searching for the positives within me."
Im Still a work in progress as i read
the passage i wrote above....
It's hard to think positive things
about myself when most all my
life i was made to feel less than...
not good enough and had all my
faults pointed out to me or mostly
reminded of.
To have people down grade u
into thinking ur a no-body and
that u couldnt amount to a
row of beans.....
Thru the yrs in recovery ive
learned to to turn off those
old tapes that keep playing
in my head....throw them away....
burn them because its all
garbage cluttering up my
brain.
Ive learned and i continue
to learn as i grow and mature
in sobriety that I am some-one.
I am SPECIAL. Just like each
one of you are out there.
We all have special qualities
within ourselves and if brought
out for others to see then we
shine like the brightest star
up in the heavens.
So find those wonderful qualities
and gifts within urself and
share them with those around
u in recovery....in ur family....
at work.....alone by urself....
Look in the mirror and see how
beautiful u really are and the joy
u can bring to others.
Remain teachable and continue
to share ur experiences, strengths
and hope with others around you.
Grow and mature in recovery.
Thanks for letting me share.
