question

Hey- does anyone know what is considered a "Young Person" for the Young People's AA meetings? I'm a 27yo female. Not that young, I guess....Well, I guess I'm just trying to figure out the best first meeting to go to. I want to feel at least a little okay with it, because, if I don't I might freak out and either leave or never go back. I need to feel like I belong, I guess. Maybe I should go to one of those meetings with speakers so I'm not on the spot- I'm kind of shy. Any suggestions or advice are very welcome....thanks!

I used to go to young people's meetings all the time until they conflicted with my schedule and I am 26. I don't see anything wrong with going at my age--I am still young! I really connected with the younger crowd too, who had specific concerns relevant to our age. Might as well try it out!

An open speaker meeting would be a good start to get your feet wet. Give that a try.

Just get to a meeting and keep going back to them.
You'll meeting all kinds young and old. I can into AA at 22.
All meetings are different. Eentaullly you'll find your favorite
taste of meeting just like you did with the booze.lol

You don't have to share if you don't want to.
I guess that's how we learn how to say "no".lol

There are no "rules" in AA as I have known it here in Southern California. We have several "young peoples" groups in our district and they are always looking for more attendees.

I am with Taz, go to all sorts of meetings and find the one or ones that suit you. It is a buffet and just take the "stuff" that tastes good. If you don't like some meetings, stay until they are over that time and then don't go back to that one. I did the same with bars, and it worked WAY TOO WELL for me then!

Just go to a meeting, any meeting and you can't go wrong.

Jon

It's AA - nobody will ask you not to be there.
