I feel good today
I dragged my ass into an AA meeting 5 days ago after being a daily drinker for 6 years, and I have realized that I should have done this a long time ago. Although I'm only on day 5, I know what I have to do (go to meetings, a lot). I have posted on this site before looking for an answer and although AA was suggested I was hoping people would tell me another way. I looked all over, and there isn't another way for people who are alcoholic. I just wanted to post and say AA isn't what people think it is. It's a group of nice people who share a common problem and help each other to fix it. Figured I'd check in and say hi!
Hi User Name,
I'm glad you are feeling good and seeking help with AA. There are other ways to recovery, but you should do whatever works for you. And, the reason I come to SR is because I like to around people who understand.

28 years ago, I didn't know of any other way; and, since AA worked for me, I didn't bother to look for any other way.
There are days I feel pretty good...days I feel better/worse than others...one thing I know for sure...no matter how I feel, I don't drink and haven't wanted to in a very long time.
