Hi My Names Cora Im 24 And Have A Very Serious Problem I Am An Addict
For Whatever Reason I Have Felt Like Smoking Would Take My Problems Away When All Its Really Done Is Give Me Even More Problems
I Put My Addiction Before Every Thing In My Life Including My Daughter And Husband I Dont Know Why I Continue To Mess Up I Even Choose Weed Over My Freedom I Cant Even Act Like I Know Why Cause I Dont
I Know Im A Terriable Wife And Mother But I Would Really Love To Change
Before My Husband Leaves Me For Good And I Lose My Daughter
So How Can I Get Help If I Cant Afford Rehab Is There An Alternative Way Of Quitting Or Any Programs That Are Free In Houston Tx
Thank You For Taking Your Time To Read This

Hi Cora,
Addiction is a disease that makes us do things we really regret. The good news is that there is support here and lots of hope that you can live a sober life.
One suggestion I would make is to change your daily patterns and routines. That really helped me a lot, in early recovery. I would know what time of day was a particular problem for me, and I'd plan to be doing something totally different at that time. Go for a long walk, listen to music, watch a good movie, play with your child or do something or anything that takes your mind off things for a few minutes. It will get easier as each day goes by.

Welcome to SR!...
Have you considered trying the free program
of Narcotics Anonymous?
The Salvation Army also runs excellent
free programs for alcoholics/drug addicts.
Blessings to you and your family

Hi Cora, when my brother wanted to stop he kept failing at going cold turkey. He then made a list of the times in the day he puffed and cut out the ones he thought he could go without. This cut it down to about a third and gradually he cut it out altogether.I know reducing to stop isn't everyones cup of tea but it worked for him, best wishes.
Hi Cora...
I too would suggest Narcotics Anonymous. I go to AA, but either one is good. I have heard that they also have marajuana anonymous too. I too live in the Houston area. Are you North or South Houston? I may be able to tell you where some meetings are. Glad your here, keep posting.

Welcome Cora
I almost lost my daughter of five. I now do the child exchange thing. There are days she is not here. I miss her so, and it takes some getting used to. I do not wish that on anyone.
I am so glad you are realizing your problem early! Eliminate all in your life associated to POT. Get out, take your daughter to the park or for a walk.
Keep coming here, read and post. There is some great wisdom here and a lot of encouraging words. FELLOWSHIP!
The cut down thing works, Thanks (Dave 47)
Most of all talk to your husband, don't be afraid to tell him you need help. Show him your serious.
You are not a terrible mother, You are there and you know you need help.

HI Cora.
You are not a terrible wife and mother so get those thoughts right out of your head.
Addiction makes us do things or not do things that we regret, but that isnt who we really are We may exhibit addictive behavior, but if you take away the substance things change behavior changes.
Last summer I couldnt afford rehab either. i found a hospital that had a drug rehab unit in it and charity care paid for it. check some of the hospitals in your area.
