Gonna ask the doctor but...
...I thought I would ask here too. My anxiety usually gets worst around dinner time, just a few hours before my next meds. My sleep pattern is still messed up (Wanna sleep after waking up, don't want to when it's bed time). I told my doctor this. He gave me "...a weak benzo." called Wypax. He said to take it if the anxiety got to be too much, and to take 2 if it got bad. I never did take any, I just put up with it. I asked if I could take it with other meds, just in case, and he said yes.
So, skip ahead a few weeks. I've gotta be up early (I usually start work at 2 or 3pm, but this day I started at 8am). I was anxious because by 12am I was still unable to sleep. I took the Wypax, and was OUT. I woke up at 7am and was refreshed and good to go. Normally I wake up about 10 minutes before I need to get up, but not this time. I didn't take the Wypax for a week, then same situation. Same effect...I was out faster and up faster and didn't need to sleep during the day.
Can a benzo really have this kind of effect on a person? My only concern is that like with any other meds, that if I take it everyday I will build up a tolerance. For now, I will skip the days I don't need it to be up, and I will push through the bareable anxiety I have around dinner time. Just wondering....

Hi DaVinci,
Small dose of benzos is the only medication that really works on my anxiety. I have also taken a mild dose of anti-depressant called Oropram and I have found it effective.
When I cannot sleep, I take Phenergan. It knocks you out, and itīs not addictive (not for me, that is).
I have never been addicted to either substance and always sought guidance from psychiatrists and/or specialists in addictions. I was once on a small dose of Klonopan (I believe the American name for it) for more than three years, because of a crisis in my family. I didnīt build up a tolerance (that is to say, it was always effective at the same dose) and stopped taking it when it wasnīt needed.
However, what works for one person may not work for another and I know benzos are a controversal subject. You might check this out:

I have found that relaxation session with a therapist or just massage, or doing yoga and Tai Chi is very effective. Have you tried some of this?
Love and light,
