Finding an al-anon meeting, need help please

I asked where the al-anon meetings were in my area, and I was sent a document with a listing of all the places in my section of the state, but I can't understand what the letters in parenthesis mean. Can someone tell me please? I think the meetings are made for certain people, like "men only" or "children" - I am going for the very first time, alone, I am the wife of an alcoholic. So, which letter do I look for in a meeting I can attend? Here is an example of what I am seeing: (CH, H, B) (G) (M)

Anyone know what these mean? Thanks a lot!

I'm not sure what they all mean but when on the internet you will find a phone number for your locall AA Branch/office/help line. Ask them all the questions you have, they will help you find what you need as a meeting and they are there to help you emotional side as well. Good well and take care.

the listing should have a guide

H usually means handicapped access
M stands for Men only here
B babysitting
G here stands for Gay
CH not so sure

I agree that a phone call should solve the problem, and whoever helps you will have more information than what is listed in flyers.

am going for the very first time, alone,

The good news aGrandma is that when you walk into your first meeting you won't be "alone" anymore.

I went to my second meeting tonight. With SR and Alanon for the first time in many years I no longer feel alone!

Hello aGrandma...I have been to many al-anon meetings, they have al-ateen for young people. Any meeting is fine and make sure you get the literature and they have books for sale. I found hope and a lot of support in the rooms of al-anon.I learned a lot about myself and my loved ones who are alcoholics. I got a sponser and worked the steps. Check your meeting list for a legend explanation,it will explain what you are seeing in parenthesis{CH} etc.

I did check the list for a legend and there is none...very frustrating. I don't want to make a phone call like that from work- about 10 people can hear my phone conversations...!!!
