08/08/07
08/08/07 is the date I have picked to quit smoking. I am a alcoholic in recovery with 15 months of sobriety. I know of an Nicotine Anonymous meeting they have every Saturday at a hospital, and will attend. I hope to use the same tools AA has given me to use to quit smoking. I hope God doesnt get annoyed, because my pray time is about to go up 200% lol.
My sponsor will help me through this, and I know that I am powerless over nicotine. You will most likely get to know me well in this section of SR.

Hi, Signal30,
And welcome to the clean air section of SR!
I quit smoking 20 months ago. It can be done, lol!
Are you planning to use any assistance? I used the patch, zyban, the gum, smoke cessation counseling in person and on the phone, behavior modification and any Ither thing that helped. It got me though.
I look forward to getting to know you.
Remember to keep the quit and post before you puff!
Shalom!

As far as assistance, I do have an inhaler, but I don't really want to use it. The whole point of quitting nicotine is not having it in my system. I'll be chewing and spitting ALOT of David salsa flavored sunflower seeds for the oral fixation. I'll also be communicating with my sponsor a lot.
I'll make sure to post in here before taking that next smoke.
Thanks for your support.

Understood about not wanting the nicotine in your system.
Just remember, nicotine replacement doesn't have the over 500 additional carcinogenic chemicals added. For harm reduction, NRT is far better than reaching for another "sick-o-rette." I'm not saying you *should* use it; just keep in mind, it's better than the alternative!

Tom, I quit chewing tobacco in Nov. 2004, and my sobriety date is 2/21/05. It's great to be free from the bondage of both addictions! This site helped me give up the nicotine www.whyquit.com Check it out if you have some free time.
