1st Wedding
1st Wedding
Just wanted to touch base and say hello to everyone. I was away this weekend and went to a wedding...first wedding I didn't drink at. I wanted to...in fact there were a couple opportunities for me to drink this weekend (lots of alcohol) and I was able to go without. Got back home today and went to an AA meeting. Feeling good
Thank you everyone for all your support.

good for you! thats big!
Ha,ha...now that I can remember I did have fun. It was definately different. I went home early with some family and played board games. There were times I felt really isolated and "out of it" but once we started dancing I was able to let go a little and have good CLEAN fun!
And a DIFFERENT family memeber (in law) was the one doing the shots at the end of the night and singing...and acting all sorts of crazy, not wanting to go home etc. When hearing the stories the next day I was so happy it wasn't me!

hi..i went to a four day family wedding celebration in june, and was a nervous wreck for months before....scared of being around people drinking, and scared of the temptation...i did it,i stayed sober the whole time, and it was ok.....
I have a class reunion coming up,and another wedding...and this time I have no fear....having a few more months of sobriety behind me helps alot...
if anything, being the only sober person at this wedding, and seeing how people get after drinking in excess, just made my resolve to stay sober even stronger...
