I would be interested in hearing about any experiences of Anitbuse. A friend who is an A is about to start taking it. What do you think his chances of success are with it?

My wife takes Antibuse....sometimes. The thing with Antibuse is that you have to TAKE IT for it to work. At first my wife would show me that she was taking the pill. Then she reverted back to her alcoholic ways and told me I could "trust" her. Next thing you know she relapsed. Unless they agree to having someone watch them take it EVERY day, you never know if they are. It only works if they take it! Hope that helps...

As I understand it (I am not a Dr.) Antabuse can actually be rather dangerous if you take it and decide to drink anyway. I think Campral or Naltrexone, both of which deal with cravings, may be a better choice, or maybe added in addition to Antabuse.

I took it and when I became violntly
ill by haveing a split of champagne..

I quit the Antabuse...

You also have to have regular liver function
test as it can be harmful to the liver.
It has an afterlife before it leaves
your body.
