Nobody here but this chicken! lol

I am so touched..golly..I was gone a day..

I've had a terrible bout of allergies..and the antihistamine

sorta reacted with the bipolar meds..knocked me out

much of the last two days!

Still here, still sober...

Love,

IO

How does it keep the colds away? Onion breath..no one gets near you *LOL*

Why the honey? Because onions don't always taste so good *LOL*

Ha ha ha...

Maybe we could make this another funny thread!

Kari...I've heard of folks snorting stuff up their nose...

but salt water is a first!

Really tho...this bout with allergies have knocked me for a

loop! See, I had rheumatic fever twice a a child, and throat

infections are not good..so i need to stay "dried up".

Thanks everyone for caring..

Love,

Achooo!

IO-
When hubby and I were first married we had an old doc who was semi-retired and he told us to snort salt water! I nearly choked!! Plus, it you make it too strong it will remove your tonsils! (yeeowww) It works though, but it's much easier to just buy some saline nasal spray at the pharmacy like karim suggested!!
I have _never_ heard of onion skin tea though hot tea with honey and lemon helps me if I'm singing-no dairy, caffeine, sodas or orange juice allowed 4 hours prior to singing.

i know an opera singer who was fired because he chew garlic on stage...and he had a close scene with a woman...lol..she felt like fainting....lol

but what i said about nasal spray is right, doctor prescription, and that tea, does work with sinus attacks and rhinitis....but its old portuguese traditions...so...the onion and garlic have great properties against virus, and help build up the immune system...we use it in cooking almost everything...

but for opera, the only thing i know that works is vocalizes, and technique, like a teacher of mine says, a person with technique even when sick, can sing...

take care!glad for you all being fine!

yep karim: you mean this? "me-mi-mo-mu-may-mu"....those exercises make a huge difference
The saline I use doesn't have any meds in it, just saline solution- but I also use some Rx sprays sometimes.

exactly, salt and water, perfectly harmless, just expensive, like 5 dollars a bottle..same thing if you go to the beach everyday for a while, still get the air on the nostrils....i do with the 5 vowels all kinds of sounds, but that too...we do stacatto work and all that..i have a natural vibrato, so that's what i work more on.to control it...every singer has particular needs so i try to do my own, personal exercises..but it took me a year to realize what to do....lol..i love singers CMC!

buy The Voice Book, by Michael McCallion, it's on amazon at least..i have a bunch of books, but that is the best book of posture and voice care, i ever read..it's worth it..

stay strong

Technique..will..and a little help from HP!

I sang in the church for years..

One Christmas cantata..I had two solo's back to back...

the second was difficult..Mary's Magnificat..with low notes to high..

The day before I came down with a horrible flu..104 degree fever..

Guess what? I suited up and showed up.

The choir prayed for me before the show..

and I wasn't sure how I sounded..the fever made my

ears pound.

When I heard the tape later that evening..I cried and cried..

I had NEVER sang better..like an angel..

As RZ says...

the powers that be..

Love,

IO
