Acceptance........

Acceptance is the answer to ALL my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation-some fact of my life-unaccepatble to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God's world by mistake. Until I could accept my alcoholism, I could not stay sober; unless I accept life on life's terms, I cannot be happy. I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as on what needs to be changed in ME and MY attitudes.

I'm surprised they did not address this to me........lol........

Acceptance.

Its definetly a process. Its something I struggle with. Remember, the author of that story in the book also struggled to get to that point too.

Thanks for posting!

Your sooo right Tom, once you accept your struggles in life they seem to diminish or disappear. Thanks for sharing your wise words. I think I will print this message and put it on my fridge.

Acceptance is crucial for me right now. My wife is just about out of patience with my drinking, and eleven days into sobriety I find myself wanting everything to be back to normal already. Thank you for the reminder.

good morning, just to clarify, these aren't my wise words, straight from the Big Book of AA, page 417.

Perhaps this will generate an interest in formal recovery if you have been thinking AA is not for you.......
