When I use my AA Steps
there is no guilt left from my past.

When I was a child ..
it was not necessary to drink to enjoy life.
Why would it be now that I am an adult?

My Sobriety date is Oct 25 2006. My early sobriety consisted of:

Halloween-6 days in (I have a young daughter)
Ex-Wifes BDay -38 Days in
Wedding Anniversary(Ex)- 46 Days in
X-Mas - 61 Days in
Oldest Daughters BDay - 65 Days in
New Years - 68 Days in
VDay -112 Days in

*whew*

I did it through AA, and with help from my Higher Power.

Well I have 5 months now and by working my AA program and through the grace of God my urge/need to drink has been lifted, I have done several B-days, actual births, Christmas, Thanksgiving, & New years with out a single problem, had a great time and so did every one else including those who drank.

For me it has been through working hard in my AA program that I have been blessed with the abilty to find out that life is far better sober then drunk.

Not drinking in drinking situations also enforces the very reason I should not drink, when I see some one drunk on their butt and making a scene it reminds me of how I used to be.

May be celebrate the fact you are sober. That it is the first (what ever holiday) sober in many years, and how much better it will be to remember what you did. And the best part NO HANGOVER!!!

I surround myself with friends from the program on holidays, and we usually have a dinner and party at our AA hall. Heck, that's pretty much what I do every day!

It really is funny now to watch the drinkers drop like flies as the day progresses;-)
