Pia Mellody's 'Facing codependency'

I am reading this book now and have found I identify strongly with her descriptions of the codependent person. I have yet to get thru the 2nd half of the book. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone else read this book and if you did the workbook that accompanies it? Was it worth the purchase for you?

The more I read this book the more depressed I get ... realising how absolutely F*c*ed up I am! Ughhh... I don't my parents or society ever meant for me to have sucked up so much negativity. I actually LOVE my parents but I somehow sucked up the messed up parts of them. oy vey!

Smile Minah, it did that to me too. I would read a few page and just had to stop! It was a really challenging read for me. Really. Probably the most challenging out of all the books Ive read. I did not know there was a workook, maybe that would be more of a guidline..I would try it personally.

I did better with it after I was further down the road in recoveryville..

I can only say after reading almost every codependency book Ive found anywhere. This one was the toughest. It actually took me 9 years to get through it and having hard time accepting parts of it still. (Other books like Melody Beaties I can read in 10 days and have reread over and over. Pia's hits home more personally

Ive never tried the workbooks, because I never had the $ for those

I re-read that book and others, as I would guess others may as well.

I found that after I got through my 4th step (the second time) I had a much better grip on the tough reads.
