Changes
I have decided to make some changes in my life and the first is that I want to stop drinking. I have tried in the past on a couple of occasions and well the fact that I am writing this shows how successful I was. I drank beer and a fair amount of it 15-20 beers a day even more on the weekends. I started to notice changes some time back. I would forget the last parts of the evening from time to time. Over the last two weeks it seemed to happen just about every evening. I would blow it off as no big deal "I was just tired or I did not have enough to eat". However, after a rough night on New Years Eve I drank more beer New Years day and that was that. I just got tired of trying to remeber the night before and how I was embarrasing my wife.
So here I am. The last two nights trying to sleep have been very difficult. My dreams have been very vivid so much so that I wake up at least 4-5 times a night. I have also become very irratable (no so good for the wife and kids). What else can I expect in the next few days and weeks as far as sleep etc are concerned? Thanks in advance for your time.

Welcome aboard, Evan14! We're glad you're here. The sleeplessness is kinda rough.
Withdrawal symptoms vary for every individual alcoholic. CarolD probably has a couple of good websites for you to check for PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome). If I remember correctly, this is one of them;
