Question TOPIC: How Do You Begin Your Recovery Day? Do You Start With The First 3 Steps?

Hi my name is Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the Grace of my HP and people like
you here in SR i havent had a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you Im truely grateful.

Topic: How do you begin your recovery
day? Do you begin with the first 3 steps?

Do you take them on a daily bases?

Does taking these steps make a
difference in how you feel and
act thru out the day?

Do taking these steps remind
you how important it is not to
take that first drink of drug?

Step 1: Step 1
"We admitted we were powerless
over alcohol - that our lives had
become unmanageable."

Step2
"Came to believe that a power
greater than ourselves could
restore us to sanity".

Step3
"Made a decision to turn our
will and our lives over to the
care of God as we understood him."

Thanks for letting me share.

Thumbs up

I remember hearing others say they take the
first 3 steps EVERYDAY....Then wondering how
do you do that.....

So everyday....well i try....PROGRESS NOT
PERFECTION.....

try to remember how important it is to
say those steps quietly to myself and then
apply them to my everyday routine.

Even during the day....quietly meditate
the Serenety Prayer....just make a
conscience effort to think about my
program....

Routine is important....once u get into
a routine of doing something everyday
then it automatically becomes part
of u subconscience.....Doing what
is right without actually thinking about
it.....

ADMIT.....ACCEPT.....BELIEVE.

1. I Can't
2. He Can
3. I'll Let Him

Yep, do all 3 on a daily basis one day at a time.

Hugs,
Kellye

I think I do the first 3 steps everyday, though I did not really consider it. Havn't done much beyond that...guess I better get to work on that.

I make an effort every morning to hit my knees, thank God for keeping me sober the previous day, ask him to help me stay sober today, and then spend the rest of my day doing what I feel is God's will, as well as practicing Steps 10-12. Yes, 1-3 are done every day, even if it's only a conscious reflection of how powerless I was and what God does for me every day.

Spiritual Not A Religious Program

My name is Vic and I am an addict, probably dang lucky to be here clean today. Because of the Program of recovery that is outlined in the NA Basic Text, the fellowship of the Program, sponsorship, and I haven't had to take a drug (alcohol is a drug) since May 25, 2006 and for that I am eternally grateful.

I used to hit my knees, I went to college at one time to be a minister. I think that for me, I have a constant reminder of who I am! I am just another addict seeking recovery, Just For Today. I have always had what I call my Program. It is a Program that I learned from others and being OPEN-MINDED is one of those things that are huge for me.

How do I begin my recovery day? That is a great question, for I think that you will have a lot of ESH to share on that one honey

I start my day waking up, getting to my computer and posting the Just For Today meditations at a few different sites. I usually read it after I post them, and then I try and reflect on what they are trying to say to me. I then post on just a few threads here at SR and SV then after that I get up and make coffee.

Coffee is a huge part of my morning, and my smokes LOL. I then get out my NA Basic Text and do some reading, also looking at the nature in life outside of my windows and giving thanks for another day. I do however pray, but I only pray for "Thy Will, NOT mine be done."

After that I usually stop to reflect on the day ahead, on what needs to get done, and what I would like to get done. Usually it is never how I reflect on how it turns out, however the way that it turns out is the way that it is suppose to be. I try to just put one foot in front of the other and leave the results upon my HP,.

Next Question: Do You start with the first 3 steps?

I suppose from looking at my answer above that I indeed do start with the first 3 steps. I believe that each time I open up my NA Basic Text to study it that I am in fact doing steps 1, 2, 3! I also draw my attention on a HP that I am trying to stay in contact with on a regular basis. So the morning is filled with recovery, and that starts me off in the right direction, and usually at night I end up with some form of recovery also. Thanks for allowing me to share

With Love and Respect

Vic
