Went to my first meeting last night!
I went to my first meeting last night. I'm 25 and I really wanted to meet girls my age and I did, I met like four! It was great. I am still scared and my husband is NOT being supportive at all, my mom is being too supportive and getting on my nerves, my SIL is just right though, lol! She's the only one that has just the right amount of support.
I just don't want to feel pushed in to this. I want it on my own! Anyway, if your hesitant about going to a meeting don't be. I really liked sharing w/ the girls and telling them why I think, I mean, know I am an alcoholic. It felt good getting it all out, not being secret anymore.
I feel positive today.

Way to go! I always love it when I hear that someone is taking the steps to attend meetings, every time I hear that it gives me goose bumps for I know that the Program has saved my life. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself and remember we are never alone.

I am so glad you met people you had a common thread with, and your age. The really cool part of AA is that we all have alcoholism in common, so a lot of the age and other barriers present anywhere else seem to disappear in AA!
My husband was angry at first, and did not want me to go to AA. After a few 24 hours he noticed the changes, I behave better when I go to meetings...and now he says to me " I think you need a meeting" Hang in there, and keep going back...

way to go! it was hard for me to go to my first meeting and such a relief to find that it was warm and welcoming and all the other people were not scary but similar to me.
you are absolutely right. you do it for you. you need to do it for you. that's the only way it works.
way to go and keep coming back!
