Did Beta-Blockers/ Propranalol help your anxiety/panic attacks?
Did Beta-Blockers/ Propranalol help your anxiety/panic attacks?
I have been put on Beta-Blockers/ Propranalol sustained release 160mg capsules (one a day) and they seem to be helping already. I was just wondering if anyone else has any experiences with this medication and what they were?
Thanks,
Steven

I do have some experience with the use of a blood pressure medication to help control anxiety and the symptoms of PTSD although the one I am currently on is not a beta-blocker.
I was first prescribed Lisinopril but experienced some negative side effects from it and it was changed to Clonodine, not to be confused with Klonopine or Clonazapam which is something entirely different. I have been on this therapy for a couple years now with pretty good results. I rarely have night terrors anymore, my nightmares have been drastically reduced, my flashbacks are reduced, and my anxiety is much more manageable although still not in complete control.
It has been a relief to finally find something that has given me some positive results after more than 10 years of trying multiple medications including different anti-depressants and mood stabilizers. Although this has not been a cure all at least it has smoothed enough of the rough edges out that I have actually been able to work on the root of the problems in therapy which I think is as important as medication since medication is only treating symptoms not necessarily the root of the anxiety, depression, or PTSD.
