6 days clean & not tempted
6 days clean & not tempted
Going into unchartered waters here a bit as usually by day 4/5 I tell myself I'm not really a bad addict and deserve a wee puff of smack as a treat. Then a new cycle of insanity begins. Not this time. No way am I giving up my clean days and my progress like that again. I also saw a Kineseologist was really good but she said I had to be clean for a month for it to work.
Am feeling good about things, the worst physical symptoms are gone & I shudder at the thought of going through them again. They say you have to hit your own rock bottom before you stop, well I've hit mine and am beginning my ascent back to normality. Long way to go but just ticking off the days at this stage is good enough for me. Next step get the confidence to attend an NA meeting alone :-)

Cheers for all kind words of support!
Great work ally on day 6!!!!
Chasing I'm supposed to be going to a boat party (rave) on Sydney harbour but clearly I can't as coke and E's will leave me mentally fragile and physically weak and I can't risk succumbing to "just a WP" to take the pain away.
So I don't know what to do, I might go see a recovering alchie mate in melbs and get away from temptation for the weekend.

Congrats on the 6 days legend, great to be witness to you breaking new territory, you know these weekends are the times where you could use a clean living mate with you, just thinking out loud here.
I saw a lot of friends out doing all nighters, doofs, raves, big festivals - you name it, last time I was in recovery, and the beautiful thing was they all did it straight & sober. Their saving grace was the company of other recovering addicts, you'll get the strength to go there soon, don't lament. Partying sober can actually a lot of fun, and what was supirsing to me, is that girls really dig the fact you're not on anything!
Melbs sounds like a great idea

Getting away from things, or having an alternate plan sounds like a good idea.
Committing to a sober life, just for this weekend would be a great step. You've been down the route of using other drugs at the weekend- it didn't help?!

Yay red!! I'm happy for you!!
Keep it up and keep going to meetings if they make you feel good. Meetings give me inspiration, reminders, the opportunity to feel empathy and the desire to care for and help others, sometimes a good laugh together and other things.
They help me to continue to care about staying clean. The help me not to say duck it and go back.

Redmanc7 you're doing great! You have a good plan for Saturday night. I used to love to party, but honestly, the way my life is now in recovery is sooo much better! I honestly don't miss it!
Going to visit a recovered buddy is going to make you feel good about yourself. You are getting out of your head and being there for your friend. Wonderful!

Hey Red how goes it? Unfortunately I am pretty sure how the RAVE turned out, but it is what it is OR maybe you are busy working. Whatever it may be don't disappear. If you did pick up again it is what it is. All I know is the longer I was back out there the more in danger my life became. Check in bud. I know the struggle. I know the thinking. I know the life. Don't ever think we don't understand where you are coming from because WE understand better than ANYONE. Be Good!!!
