It truly is a personal thing. I tried a few NA beers, and a couple of NA wines. The beers didn't make me want to drink the real thing, because beer wasn't my drink of choice. The NA wines, though - that was a different story. It was too close to the real thing for comfort for me. Plus - they are awful. I no longer drink the NA beers. They cost the same (or sometimes more) than real beer - I'm better off having iced tea or sparkling water with the free refills. Sometimes when I go to a nicer place I'll have a fancy mocktail - there are places now that have an actual list of yummy non-alcoholic drinks. I'm not drinking them in order to pretend to be having a real cocktail - I'm drinking them to switch things up and for the taste. So for me - it's about the intent. As long as I'm not using mocktails as a substitute for the real thing, or drinking them to fit in somehow, I'm fine with it.
