A few questions
Hello everybody, I just wanted to ask if anyone knows if it is normal to have headaches and weird sleeping patterns when you first stop drinking.
It's only been 10 days for but that's good for me.
I once stayed off it for a month but I never felt this bad, could it be that I've became more dependent on it and my body's not coping to well?
Thanks

My sleeping patterns have been all over the place this week (day 7), but no head-aches. Perhaps have a word with your doctor? It does sound like it could be, but always best to get checked out
Oh and to SR

Congratulations
Regarding your headaches -- please, at least call your doctor and put this issue by them.
Congratulations for joining us on the sober road.

Welcome to SR Roger and congratulations on 10 days
Disturbed sleep patterns are very normal, headaches less so. If you are still getting them in a few days time then it would be best to see a doctor even though it is probably nothing.

Hi and welcome Roger
Unfortunately the longer we drink the greater the likelihood our withdrawals get worse. It's something called alcoholic kindling.
While your experience certainly matches mine, if you're concerned about the headaches or the irregular sleep do see your Dr for professional help and support

Hey, Headaches may arise if your restrict calories, , especially sugars and / or drinks lots of water. I am no docotor, but that is my experience. That holds also true in case you start a diet. Especially if you have been drinking beer before, the difference in calories may be huge. It should be gone in a couple of days.
All the best! Thomas

After reading about a bazillion early sobriety ailments I think just about anything is normal. Certainly sleep and headaches are not uncommon. One thing for sure the longer we drink the more severe the withdrawal symptoms

Good job on 10 days! Keep going. This stuff sounds absolutely normal to me. I was VERY sick when I stopped drinking (223 days ago) and went through some serious PAWS - here is an article that can help you learn about some of the process you may go through in the first months (or even longer) -
See http://.digital-darma.net and click on PAWS
Whatever physical symptoms you go through will pass and you will feel better and better as you stop drinking. Underlying medical issues and things that may need to be treated (besides/in addition to your alcoholism) are things that will show themselves and need your dr's attention. IME, getting sober is a whole-life process, well beyond the alcohol simply getting out of your system (which it is, literally, at 10 days).
Again...don't drink. You will find a healthier life on the other side if you keep going. Also, you will find one you can deal with responsibly as life and health issues inevitably come into your life. Good luck.
