I have been to rehab. About 8 years ago. For me it didn't 'work' but I should qualify that. 1. I wasn't ready...I hadn't truly accepted that I cannot ever drink 2. I expected rehab to fix me, spin me dry....doesn't work that way...I had no real program when I left 3. The environment was not a good match for some of my other issues (GAD and PTSD).
Check out the rehab very carefully. Even visit if you can. Find out about counseling, the experience of the counselors. If you don't have medical insurance negotiate the price...rehab is competitve (and expensive) business.
Ask about what kind of support they provide to you after you get out. There is also intensive outpatient, good ole counseling and AA/Smart Recovery/Rational Recovery/Life Ring. If you aren't in a crisis situation I would just suggest really researching any kind of inpatient program.
Bottom line it is up to you to be completely ready. Open, Willing and honest.
