Sunday morning

Well its sunday morning and I will be taking my granddaughter to church in a couple of hours in a couple of days I will be a month sober if you had asked me at new year if this was possible I would have said no I couldent go a day without drinking. But one month later I am feeling good I actualy have come home a few times without thinking of going into the liquor store I still get cravings but can control them till they pass (chocolate milk helps for me) and no more hiding whiskey in the car or searching under the bed for beer cans before my wife finds them or emptying the recycle and leaving two cans in there so my wife thinks I have had only had two beers (sneaky huh).Ive taken my granddaughter swimming and to guides and I am not a prisoner in my home after 5pm.Funny I used to sit in church thinking about one oclock when I can start drinking for the day(weird)MYwife has not said anything but she must have noticed the difference I can stay awake later and I am not sleeping by 7pm.I know I have a long way to go and I am very very carefull to avoid triggers .I am justjust taking it one carefull day at a time and with Gods help and the support of this forum I will stay sober today..............Thanyou all so very very much

way to go grampa, sounds like you are getting through the tough part.

I had to chuckle to myself, I recall emptying the recycle - or adjusting the inventory to make it look I didn't drink as many, we were sneaky no doubt

Oh that's a nice post to read on s Sunday morning!

It's so nice to get home after work and realize that it didn't even cross my mind to stop for a six pack!

Congratulations on a month! That time frame was a little tough for me.....but the part where I could actually begin to see that 'it gets better' wasn't too long after.

Wishing you a nice Sunday.

Congratulations and remember it does get better and better WHEN we don’t drink!
You caught my attention by mentioning going to sleep at 7. After awhile being sober I recognized it as passing out, on the couch, recliner or bed and still feeling exhausted the next day.

BE WELL

Lovely post grampa.

So true what you said about no longer being a prisoner in your own home. My drinking usually started around 7pm on weekdays and much earlier at weekends. So from that time onwards I was stuck at home. Great to have my freedom back
