Giving up
Hi everyone.Advice on giving up smoking would be appreciated.I have been a moderate smoker for 45years.Although I have not had any health problems as a result,I am only to aware that there is more than likely a degree of damage to my lungs.I have researched the positives to giving up and understand that our bodies can repair, post smoking? Is this so?Anyhow, would anyone like to share their experience in very early nicotine withdrawals.
I quit after several tries. I had cut back to 2-5 cigarettes a day. I didn't experience nicotine withdrawal, I don't think. I did have some trouble dealing with my emotions at about the two week mark.
No looking back. I quit 23 years ago.

Hi Jojay,
How many cigarettes a day are you smoking ?
I was a big smoker ( +/- 30 cigarettes a day)
I've stopped 80 days ago using nicotine patches.
They worked very well for me.
I think there's only two ways to stop:
a) cold turkey is the fastest way but with a low success rate around 15%*
b) with patches - it's a long way but with a high rate of success at around 60% *
* These figures are from the Canadian Cancer Society.
Any way you decide, I wish you the best of luck!

I recommend Allen Carr. He has a book Easy Way to Quit Smoking. This video might do the trick for you as well.

Hi I smoked for about 25 years / I found nicotine minis and absolute cessation of cigarettes worked for me it took me about 6 months on the minis, they even gave me a sore tongue but I persevered: best thing I evere did. The health benefits are massive- I tried a few other things like cutting down and patches even group therapy but it was the minis for me and being in the right head space .
Reading about the benefits over and over again helps Good luck and give it a go
