Happy to have you with us, urbancyclist!

SR helped me change my life. I had been damaging myself & putting myself & others in danger for many years. Once I came here and told my story I never felt alone again. You're among people who understand and care. Welcome! Keep posting and reading.

Thank you for all your support! I did not expect any replies but it is really encouraging to see others that know what I am going through and are understanding. Today is day 12 for me sober and my body feel great. My emotions are a little off the charts but I expected this. I am going to continue my journey and strive for being the healthiest I can be. One great thing about these past 12 days is that my girlfriend and I are getting along so amazingly! I cannot believe it took me this long to finally wake up.

12 days - how fabulous, urban. You sound very encouraged & optimistic. Yes, being emotional is part of it - but it will ease up.

31 days sober today. First 30 days were rough as hell. They say you are meant to feel better as you sober up, but to be honest I felt terrible all month. It was mostly due to my emotions being strung up. Day 31 feels like a completely different story. I started to feel really great. It is enough motivation to allow me to continue. I am excited to continue to see how much better I will feel.

I am trying to cope with stress. I wonder how everyone else deals with stress in a healthy way. Any suggestions?

This isn't really any help for dealing with stress in the moment, but I've become very routine with exercise, diet, and bedtime. It kind of sets the stage for stress to remain manageable.

Also, read around -- in the early stages, I tried a variety of stress management techniques. See what sticks, and don't, um, stress out about techniques that might not work for you
