Starting the 3rd day mark..

Going into my 3rd day sober. Last night I had real trouble sleeping , lay awake staring at the ceiling. Had really vivid dreams when I did sleep. My head hurts constantly. After work yesterday the first thing that popped into my head was 'wouldn't it be nice to have a bottle of wine' ....no! Yesterday I felt like my head was cloudy, that I wasn't really there, but I managed to get through a tough day at work.

Today I'm hoping the fog clears a little more, and if don't think about wine after work, but I know I will, probably for a long time. But I think I can do this

Never had an issue with cloudy/foggy, but those vivid dreams drove me crazy for about 4-5 days. Soon as I would fall asleep, here they come, and would wake me up. That is one of the things that keeps me from drinking, don't no more of them dreams.

Yeah check out AV in the list of acronyms. That is around for a while.

I didn't get cloudy but I thought about drinking after work for....well, h***, I still think about it (11 days here). It's getting much better, though. I have a plan for after work which is to get on SR for a few while I drink some tea or ginger ale. That has helped a lot.

It varies I think reddragonfly...and it got worse for me the more the years mounted up, but I found I generally felt a lot better after a week

I'm on day 5 after a horrible week binge...feeling like myself again.

Really think it depends on how many sober days you have...I have roughly 75 of the last 90 as drink free.

But HELL it can RAMP up really freaking fast. It was difficult to stop this time.

Oh but the VIVID dreams I can totally relate too...shudders...more like nightmares that shook my soul...

Never again.

Thinking good thoughts for you RedDragonfly. I'm sorry you're having to deal with all this and hope it clears up quickly with no other problems.

I'm beginning Day 2 of being sober and doing better than I thought. Yesterday I staved off the shakes with water, G2, eating as healthy as I could, and LOTS of movement. I was on my feet most of the day chasing kids, doing laundry, cleaning the house, prepping food for the week. My appetite even began to return a bit last night. Over night, I actually managed to sleep, and better than I expected. There were vivid dreams (at one point I was on the porch letting the dog out, and found myself floating up to the ceiling, and then couldn't get down. This has happened in the past, even before I started abusing alcohol, but I've always been able to control where I wanted to go. This time I was stuck. Somehow managed to wake myself up and felt like I'd been in a DEEP sleep. I use a sleep cycle app that measures your movement over night and while I was up more often than usual, I actually managed to get back to sleep.

This morning I'm a bit fuzzy. We'll see how the day progresses. I'm bringing all my snacks and lunch for the day, along with my big bottle of water. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and me and for everyone else in the early stages of recovery. We can do this!

Everyday it will get better and before you know it these uncomfortable withdrawals will be gone. Hang in there...it will get better...before you know it you will be sleeping like a baby.
Have you got a plan for sobriety. There is some great info on this site.
