Talking aloha and good morning! first time posting

Aloha all, this is my first time here. I'm currently in a head to head battle with oxycodone (aka the devil) and just found this site. I cannot sleep right now, I am in the process of weaning myself off of oxy which I have been taking off and on for 10 years. I did not take a pill for thelast 8 hours and was in a lot of pain so I took 20 mg. At my worst point, about six months ago, I was taking 300-350 mg a day (10-12 of the 30mg blues). I am currently at about 90-120mg a day and and ready to take the next step and drop it down or try a different route. I was hoping someone could help me out.
As of now I take about 20-30 mg at one time and try to wait as long as possible before taking another. This is down from the dose I used to take of 45-60 mg at one time. It's very hard, and I know it wont get easier. I can only sleep about 5 hours, it's hard to eat, my heart goes crazy, and I feel like ****. I know 100mg sounds like a lot but for me it's very low. Please, how should I proceed from here? I've heard many bad things about soboxin; does it just depend on the resolve of the individual with that course of going sober? IE many people told me soboxin doesn't work, is that because the person lacks will-power or does it really not help? This is my first time trying to wean/stop oxy. Any suggestions wouldbe great. Thank you.

Welcome to SR!

We always tell you to get a doctor's advice. I personally would recommend a detox program or rehab. Would you be available for a few days to a month?

Hey and welcome to the forums,

I agree with Coldfusion ^^^^. One of the rules is that we aren't allowed to give out medical advice. However I can say that you should see a doctor about your withdrawal. It can be very dangerous to detox from a drug without having medical input beforehand. Being in the middle of a detox is crap. It does get better, it probably won't feel like it's going too but it will.

Thank you all. I went to the doctor for the first time yesterday, and started this site this morning, so I kind of feel this is the beginning of the end for me. She said she will have a specialist contact me in the next few days and let me know all my options.
@ColdFusion: I own a business so it will be hard for me to take an entire month, but I do have a business partner so I am sure she can help me for about a week or so? I hope I can do it in that amount of time. That is why I have been dropping my dose a lot, not too fast, but enough so that when I do go all-out it will not be as bad (hopefully). I grew up in Portland, OR and Washington, my dad has a beach house in Ocean Park near longbeach, I envy you, I miss WA/OR.
Thank you all! I will continue to work with the doctor and try to figure this out...
I'm gonna browse more now and check this all out. I guess this just really scares me... I'm starting to cry right now, I'm so tired of living my life like this. It controls every aspect of my life and effects all the decisions I make. I just want to be free of this... I don't know what to expect but if I have any more questions I will ask for advice and support. Thank you again.
@Natom: I love Liam Neeson!!!

bunny--

The specialist may recommend an in-patient program, which might be just a few days. The one I went to was very bare-bones, government supported--but it sure gets you off to a good start. You probably won't need medical attention, but in a professional setting there are things that can make the transition easier. You will also learn an incredible amount from being around other people who are trying to turn their lives around also.

By the way, I grew up on Maui. I talked to my mom there today, and she said the weather was "cold." What, low 60's? It was down to 19 last week up here!

That film is epic! You keep taking it easy, one day at a time.

Maui?! Wow, I grew up in Portland! HAHA we switched places....
I never thought about those points @ColdFusion, perhaps it would be better to be around professionals to help, in the case I needed it, and especially to be around others that understand the situation.
It just hit me tonight that I really shouldn't try to do this all by myself. I have been trying really hard but I realized I might be taking it too fast (dropping my dosage).
It just feels good to be able to come here and write, even if it is about nothing in particular, it's hard to explain to the people around me how this all is; sometimes I am embarrassed and other times I just can't seem to relay the feeling. So, thanks all. It helps...

Welcome unseenbunny!

It's great that you're working out a plan to get off the oxy's - I hope your doctor gets back to you soon (you can always talk to a treatment center in the meantime and see what they say about detoxing). I think the more info and support, the better!

While you're here, check out the substance abuse part of the forum (there's one for suboxone/methadone, too). You can do this!:ghug3
