Smoke free

Last weekend I smoked with friends while out of town. The group I was with are very heavy drinkers, and while I didn't drink, I decided to toke a little.
It was a bad decision, ever since I've been smoking a little toke here and there....and while it's no where near the levels I was at before, I can still feel it's negative influence on me. I've been going to fewer AA meetings and still haven't been working out. I still use it to numb and check out....
I just read some of my old posts to remind myself of the better place I was in when I was not smoking.
Thanks for letting me share. Even if marijuana doesn't cause me as much trauma and upset as alcohol, it's still a negative influence on me! Thankfully I no longer have any to smoke and will be detoxing this week.

I'm glad you're re-committing Kitty.

I think pot is actually more dangerous than alcohol in this regard- it's easy to dismiss a toke as no big deal - I found it a lot easier to relapse on pot cos you'd get the AV chime in 'at least I'm not drinking'....but it never ends at one toke, and I'd usually end up drinking, or worse, anyway, sooner or later.

I got tried of the artificial state it puts me in. I have enough ups/downs (mostly downs). For now I rather be icy than use weed when not drinking.

And I'm sick of the smoking part. Never tried eating it.

I'm old - is 'be icy' some kind of young folks slang for something?
