Don't know if anyone else was having this problem but I thought I would pass along the solution anyway. I could not log into the chat kept getting an error message. Tried adjusting my firewall settings, even tried turing them off to log in, but couldn't get in. I was also having problems getting access to my student email account and during the process of that getting resolved it solved my chat problem too.
If you have a wireless DSL router (you don't plug a cord directly into your computer to go online) then type in http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar of your browser. It will allow you access to your wireless router configuration. From there you can adjust your router's firewall configuration. I had to turn my router firewall off but you might be able to just turn yours to low. I do recommend that if you do this you have another form of firewall on your computer as it is never a good thing to be online without one running. This link is directions for reconfiguring a quest router but it should give you a general idea of how to reconfigure yours Actiontec GT701 Modem Support Page - Qwest Communications
Good luck.
