Ive been taking methadone alittle over a year now and i tried to go cold turkey, talk about a nightmare. when i first started i was only taking one, after a while i moved to 2 than 3, now i can easily take 4,5, or 6 10 millagrams a day now and i dont even get "high" off of it. It was dumb of me to start. I did it because it was handed to me like candy for the longest time. I cant quit cold turkey but when i do it again i want to keep doing it. i also have panic attacks and shingles, f-n shingles. You get that shiznit when your old. im only 21! Ive been on xanax for a little while now, ill be addicted to that soon too. can methadone cause shingles? or is it from the panic attacks? what should i do??

Methadone is a bitch...

I was on 120mg/day dose and I cold turkeyed it. It is possible, just not fun.

If you really want to quit, you can. Have you ever been to NA? That is what I do, and it works for me. I know that I couldn't have stayed quit for as long as I have without it.

Instead of going cold turkey, why don't you try tapering them off... Every 5-7 days cut the dose down a little.. Eventally you'll be at the end of your taper and can just stop taking them! It's a healthier way than going cold turkey...
