That's a great attitude. What good does giving up do? It doesn't make the problems go away.
I always think it's good to see a professional for mental health problems but I also think that with continued effort people can sometimes change their own brain chemistry.
I wasn't diagnosed but was showing strong symptoms of ADD and Schizotypal Personality Disorder.
I discovered I could focus a lot better after exercising or dancing to music. It got the "firecracker" out of my system. So I exercise before work each morning. I also spent a lot of time listening to talk radio, trying hard to focus on everything said. Listening to people used to be very hard but that has gotten much easier now.
Even co-workers started commenting on how well I was starting to remember to do things at work. They were shocked. I'm pretty sure I have a dopamine problem I can't fix with just behavior, and still need to see a professional. But there are things we can do on our own, sometimes, that could help a lot.
