RIP Robin Williams
RIP Robin Williams
Like Robin Williams, I've been dealing with both alcoholism and depression for decades. So it pains me a great deal that he didn't make it. There but by the grace of God go I. I've always respected him a great deal because he was open about his struggles with both diseases. In 2006 he went into rehab after a relapse in his 20th year of sobriety. He went back into a rehab a few more times to protect his sobriety. It is very, very common to have these parallel diseases: alcoholism plus depression, bipolar and other diseases.
The point is, both can be treated. Don't let stigma keep you from getting help. These are brain diseases, medical conditions. All I know is I'm very grateful to be alive, sober and fairly happy today.
