Question Should I go to N.A or S.L.A.A for help with recovery

Hi, I have a severe porn addiction and I relapsed on cocaine after 3yrs of sobriety. I want to get help, but I have two problems. Where should I go?

I'm not sure what these two are. You could try whatever works for you.

My mind would not be able to address recovery while on drugs. SLAA has 12 steps too, and cocaine would absolutely prevent the program from working. You will need to be clean if you are serious about recovery. I would suggest going to both fellowships. It would be great if you had a sponsor that has recovered from both, but if you can't find that I would suggest a sponsor to help you with the drug addiction first - or do them simultaneously. I'm glad you're seeking help and definitely encourage you on your journey. It works, it really does.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing. After 3yrs of sobriety I thought I didn't need help, but I can't keep relapsing either.

That's the nature of the addiction. Now you see that you can't control it, and that in itself is a gift: Awareness. If you're not willing to live under its grasp any longer, it means that you're able to do something about it. Honesty, open-mindedness and willingness are key. You're reallynot alone. You can definitely get well if you're willing to go to any lengths for your recovery. I'm rooting you on
