One Year Today
My one year anniversary is today, from using opiates. I did have surgery for a broken ankle in early Nov. and had to take a few Percocets for a day or two post surgery at my doctor's urging, but threw the remainder away and relied only on regular Tylenol or Advil. I was determined not to get back on that roller coaster again Actually, I did not even feel a high off these. I guess it was b/c I was really in pain. It has been hard again not sleeping that good due to wearing the boot and the wear on my 58 yr old body from using crutches, but I am over the hump now and hoping to be able to walk again in early January.
Thanks to all of you on SR for contributing to a place I could go time and time again to "read" and relate. I could not have made it without your support. To me, the first several months were the hardest, but the old cravings still come back once in a blue moon.
To those of you who did not read most of my posts from earlier in the year, I was a long time opiate user (codeine last few years, hydrocodone before that and Soma off and on) and this is the longest I have gone in probably 20 years. Would go three to six months before, but never made it this long. If I can do it, you can do it to. Keep posting and reading!!

Congratulations dear!
We're old pals on this journey now. I know orthopedic pain, so give it time. Soft tissues take longer to heal than bone, so take rehab slowly.
You've been a good resource here, so it's so good to see you still here.
