Recovery

Hi Guys, I am new to sober recovery, and recovery in general. To give you a background I started using in my mid 20's, and by the time I was in my late 20's, totally out of control. 3 years ago was forced into NA by my parents, I slowed down my using but didn't stop. My life still revolved around it, and I was powerless. I never really bought the twelve step approach, seemed too weird. In January I lost my job, and made a decision that I wanted to get clean. I used a handful of times over the next few months, then in April something clicked and I knew I would stay clean. It's been 4 months now and I love being clean. The first few months, I put my reservations towards NA aside and worked the program. Within the last month or so, I've started to lose interest in the program. I know I'm gonna stay clean, and understand what I have to lose if I use again (everything). I"m trying to figure out where NA comes into play. I always want to attend meetings on some level and speak to ppl on the phone. However, that's about it. I don't have a real desire to work steps, change my personality or basic beliefs. Another issue I have is the NA approach towards recovery. It is defined as complete abstinence from all drugs. I never had a problem with alcohal. I certainly understand the dangers, but don't see a danger in socially drinking. I told this to my sponsor and he said to do a 90/90 and see how I felt. My opinion hasn't changed, although I have not taken a drink yet. Anyway, I'd love to get feedback from people both in and out of NA/AA.

Thank you

Go ahead. What do you have to lose? Although alcohol withdrawal can be bad....
