Hi RD-
Nope, you're not the only one.
I sometimes find myself, when flipping through the guide, stopping on the "jail" shows for a bit.
Reminds me I don't ever want to go back (and I only did a few days) and helps me to be grateful for my life.

Hmmm....never really thought about it like that, but now that you mention it.....
Well, I used to watch them somewhat, but I find now that I have gotten sober...and don't have to worry about winding up there anymore, I really don"t like to watch them.
When I think about it, it makes sense....the people on the shows aren't the kind of people I would choose to hang around with now or have in my life, so it really has no appeal for me. In fact, I really went to NOT liking those kind of shows at all.
Funny how we change.....

Yep, I watch them and thank God that I don't have to worry about that any more. Was driving to work, yesterday, saw 3 cars pulled over, 2 sheriff cars, and one guy in handcuffs. Said a "thank you" prayer, that I no longer do things that put me in those special "bracelets".
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

i watch jail shows, Intervention, TheWire, Oz, documentaries on the poor in England and India. I gravitate to hard luck stories, and i always have. I just rented a movie called "Scum" about a juvenile detention facility in working class london. the teen boys grow up fast in those places. When i see what does happen to millions of people, i don't look at my sobriety as a sacrifice, but just as a less painful way of life. Sobriety keeps me from sliding down the chute to a lower level of pain, to a place where others are happy when i'm sick and confined, and predators are constantly stalking. There are some good documentaries on YouTube. Type in 'prison' or 'prison national geographic'.

Also a good visual of "what could be" if we don't straighten up.
