can't end the pain w/o endin drugs, can't end drugs w/o endin the pain

the longer i am off heroin the more all the things i tried to forget come back. the severe depression, the cutting, the eating issues..im like a christmas bag of fuckups. can't stop this pain without stopping drugs but can't stop drugs without stopping the cause of the pain.

after a while i begin to wonder if the consequences of continued use is worse then what i might do without them. thats not healthy. fml.

how is everyone else handling this? it seems unbearable

As hard as it is, facing painful emotions wile clean can encourage or even compel a person to fine healthy ways to cope with strong emotional issues. See drugs became the copping mechanism for all of life's crap. Now is the time to find new life affirming ways to cope, that is learn coping strategies. Otherwise one will return to the drugs instead of working a recovery program that can ease the painful emotions impact on ones life.

Unlike the quick temporary fix that drugs offer, learning new life skills takes time and effort.

There are several things you can do. If you can afford it, talk to someone about it. A therapist or a counselor. Find something to do just for yourself without worrying what others think- art making is a good way to pass the time and can also be helpful when feeling your worst. Maybe some books on the issues you face can help. And, keep reaching out. I'm glad you are here.
