I would say no.
Whatever reason they had for splitting up or how long a go it was ex's never like a new person they know dating their ex no matter how much they protest and say it doesnt matter, it usually does. The person you are sponsering is probably feeling vunerable and insecure, imagine how he will feel when the person he is looking to for guidance, dates his ex.
Furthermore do your really need the stress of a complicated relationship right now, you must have your own doubts and misgivings to ask the question hun.
Sexual attraction is a powerful tool it makes us rush in headlong without thinking of the consequences, take a step back and think it out properly before jumping in would be my advice.
