How are you spending your holiday?

I am on vacation, thank G*D!!! I can't afford to go away this week; the flights are outrageous right now. So, I thought I'd share my plans, and see what you are all doing during this holiday season....

I'm going to dinner tonight at Trevor's place. This is the first time I've been invited to dinner, so, it'll be interesting. LOL! He has a tree up and is on break from school right now. I'm looking forward to it.

On the 25th, he, his g/f and the kids are coming here for dinner. I bought a rib roast to cook. And I have gifts here for them. The holiday decorations are still up from Chanukkah, and the house is festive looking -- well, as soon as I clean it anyway, LOL!

I'll be seeing my mom during the week's vacation. And yesterday, while over my mom's, my sister invited me to the casino for next Sunday and Monday. OMG! I can't WAIT! Two days and nights away. Pool; restaurants; spa; gym; and, (drum roll please....)
We're going to see and hear the Temtations!!!
I'm soooo psyched!!!

So, even though I don't really gamble, I'll have plenty to do and get to hear a blast from the past. This was totally unexpected. I was looking to try and get away, but, couldn't really afford it. Now, this fell into my lap, like manna from heaven!
And after loosing the second level grievance hearing at school, I need it! (We go to arbitration now, and the ex dir of the union says this is where we will win. So far it's only been administration rubber stamping administration.)
And I am soooooooo thankfulllllllll.......

So, what are you all doing?

L'Chaim!

Hmmm....well....
You know what they say about expectations, don't you? LOL!

Trevor just called and cancelled tonight's dinner.
He's working today, and they have been busy all day; haven't had a break. He won't get home till after 7 and asked if we could delay it till tommorrow. That's fine with me, though. Better that he's working late and *that's* why he can't make it! In the past, it would be because he was getting stoned!
Today, it's because he's too busy working overtime! :058:

It's is turning out to be a great holiday season!

Shalom!

Hmm...seems that Trevor isn't working late afterall...
He's in Conneticut, visiting his old g/f at his father's place.
She's using again.
He lied to me; to his g/f and the kids to cancel dinner to go visit his stoned ex g/f....

Not a good sign.
It's his life, of course.
I'm just sorry he lied....

I will carry on with the rest of my plans.
Tonight, I went out to dinner at a local place. Had scallops ceasear salad.
And who knows what else tomorrow...

Is anyone else gonna share???

Shalom!

Hey teach,

I'm sorry Trevor lied. I do know what they say about expectations and I have had to reduce mine greatly with people - LOL.

As for me and the holiday - it's just hubby and me. He has to work both Christmas eve night and Christmas night. We haven't celebrated in 2 or 3 years so this year I put up a little tree and we got each other a little gift (nothing major).

Today I'm making beef stew for dinner with homemade bread and butter. And I'm going to make some sugar cookies.

Tomorrow we will probably just get up, open our gifts late and then go out to eat. Without kids or family here - it's sorta just another day for us.
And, I like it that way -- for now.

Well, its Christmas day here, coming up to 1 am. I went to bed earlier so I'd be more awake now to wrap some prezzies, lay the table and have a look at the turkey to see when it needs to go in the oven. My older son's come up from London for a week, so they're both here. Then theres my hubby and mother in law, so quite a small group as usual.

Went round with the boys to my parents Christmas Eve to give them their prezzies and pull a few crackers. They like a quiet christmas at home.

For dinner we'll be having turkey, brussel sprouts with chestnuts, roast parsnip, roast potato, mashed potato, sage and onion stuffing, cranberry sauce and mustard. All very traditional.

Well, now I'll clear the computer away so I can lay the table.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Thumbs up Christmas plans do change...

Hi HistoryTeach & Hoover,

My husband is out doing the dishes and talking to the dogs as if they were people and he is sober!!!! :chatter

We are having a BIG pizza...left overs for sure. Very non-traditional...he started moving the soap dish in the bathroom...needed a tool...went to the basement to get it and stayed down there working on his reloading shells for his guns.

I don't know about him...just loves having a quiet holiday and a night of watching television.

Sorry History teach about your son. Never know what is going to change do we. My son that is in a wc didn't call today but his boys were there from Thursday until last night and then they were with us and left this afternoon. :ghug

He is busy most of the days with the caregivers and being put in his wc then back in bed for a couple hours in the afternoon then up again until they put him to bed...they use a electric lift.

He does enjoy his alone time...he has TV now and likes music too. He has his days pretty much the way he likes it along with compliance with his care so hopefully he won't get anymore breakdowns in his skin...no skin left to do more surgeries on his back side so this is it...the next place would be a VA nursing home and he doesn't want that. I think that is why he is following his care plan to the Nth degree this time instead of staying up all day and all night in his wc like he would do.

Hoover...our Holidays sounds just like yours except we aren't going out to eat...too much snow for my husband to get around on his crutches...I need to go the oven is dinging and my dog came to get me.

I was feeling depressed last week but am better today.

Happy Holidays,

kelsh
