Resentment Hatred Bitterness
People who are full of resentment are like people who have just farted everyone close to them gets a whiff of it ! But people who are full of spirituality are like people who are wearing a lovely smelling perfume everyone close to them gets a whiff of it !!!
When it comes to resentment ask yourself "Have I ever done or done similar to what I am resenting that person for ?"
If I follow the 12 steps It ask me to make a list of all people I had harmed and become willing to make ammends. Well if I want people to forgive me, then it make sense that I must forgive people who have wronged me !!
After all if I forgive and get rid of resentment I am doing myself a favour no the other person.
Resentment hurts. I would not want to keep a headache so why should I keep hold of resentment ?

Hi Billy!
I like the "fart" analogy. I once heard an old-timer in AA put it this way:
[old man voice] Having a resentment is like peeing in yer pants. Everybody can see it, but you're the only one who feeeeeeels it...[/old man voice]
I also love the saying that holding a resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die...
I like your thoughts on this subject.
