The penny has dropped.......

This is going to sound so simplistic but it is really helping me now

Walking along with my dog yesterday thinking about this and that when I thunderbolt of a thought hit me

I am happy
Why I am I happy?
Because I no longer drink
But some things in life a not brilliant all the time
No but I am happy because I don't drink anymore - bad things are managable
Conclusion
No alcohol = happiness

Obvious to most people I guess but to me it is both a revelation and an acceptance of my alcoholism

I have to do that one thing - not drink and life is good even when bad if you get what I mean

Keep on the happiness path one day at a time is my mantra now

Thanks

I agree as indicated by my name. Happy is a lofty goal and one I can only obtain sober.

I get the "life is good even when bad" thing. As long as I go to bed sober then it is a good day for me. Better than it could have been anyway.

Thanks for sharing your positive post.

My sober life is running smoothly most of the time....I'm grateful.

That was inspiring, Hexipuff, there is some wisdom there for sure. I agree with you about acceptance - we no longer drink, and life is good.
