Vigilance
Now that we're in AA and sober,
and winning back the esteem of our friends
and business associates,
we find that we still need to exercise special vigilance.
As an insurance against "big-shot-ism"
we can often check ourselves by remembering
we are today sober only by the grace of God
and that any success we may be having
is far more His success than ours.

Great Post and how true. I must say it is only by the grace of a loving God that I don't completely understand why I am sober/clean today, and have been since 5/13/04. It talks about how no human power could have releaved our alcoholism. I was beyond human aid I truly believe that. I try to practice vigilance w/my prayer & meditation. Another word comes to mind is discipline and I never had any of that till I got sober. Now I am trying to learn to practice that in all my affairs and that has proven to be pretty tricky for me. What comes to mind is my looking for employment cause I have a few obstacles or should I say wreckage that has prevented me from finding a job for over a year now. It is hard (understatement) to get up M -F and have a good attitude about looking when I feel like I am getting nowhere. It is a long time to be doing something and not seeing results. So anyway posts like this give me a little extra strength to continue looking. Have a great day. Judy M
