Hello, After making it 40 days I drank. Couple of evenings it was 4 beers 10abv then escalated the night before last it was 8 beers and bourban and some other alcohol . I fell and messed my foot up and jammed my finger 😳 I stopped doing the things to help stay sober and absolutely didn't play the tape forward. So... on day two now and I look forward to spending time in the May thread.

Glad you're here, Becky - hope your injuries are better soon; take gentle care.

I'm here too. I had 11 weeks AF and then a few brief slips in April. I've been in sort of a negative spiral for a few weeks leading up to my birthday today. I'll feel better when it's over. I felt much better not drinking in Feb and March. Aiming for same in May. Glad to be here to give and get daily support.

Welcome May Flowers!🌺💐🌸

Welcome Newbies, Oldbies, Inbetweenbies🤗

I’m starting my Day 9 today. Physical symptoms subsiding, mental clarity in abundance. Depression has lifted. I’m grateful.

Things I find helpful:

Eat well and often. Having a satiated belly helps to keep the cravings away. I used to have breakfast, and once the growling began for lunch, I used to reach for the wine (an empty stomach was my favorite time to drink). Now I reach for the food. Good wholesome food. Homemade food. Colorful food. Find your Life Source and energy here, not in the bottle.

Exercise daily. Doesn’t have to be ‘Olympian’. Just take a walk. Down the street. In the woods. Admire the beauty of nature. Work in the garden. Do 10 jumping jacks. Do yoga stretches. Just take some time each day to the physical body and replenish the mind. Meditation is wonderful too.

Schedule your day. Not necessarily writing it all down, but in the mind, keep active. Hour to hour, find activities. Little to big weekend projects. Make your bed every morning. Organize your cupboards. Clean out your closet. Do a puzzle. Have a ‘spa day’: a warm bubble bath, a face mask, file your nails. Spend time on your hobbies. Build a green house. Cook an elaborate meal or bake a beautiful sourdough bread. Talk to a friend.

Know it’s a day to day choice to chose not to drink. Moment to moment. Don’t put any ‘long term’ tags on it, heavy burdens, tremendous goals. Just stay in the NOW right now and know in the Now, we chose not to drink. “No, thank you,” we say. As simple as that.

Happy to be on this Journey with you of Freeing our Selves🤗

evening x
my april plan didnt go to plan, thought i had it, but then no. I have had only a few or more days AF and spoke to alcohol counollor on how i have been and what i havent done. He said try for more AF days and try not to blame myself. What i have done is found out restrictions at gym and will be buying new stuff and got my hair done this morn, so im aiming in going back to gym.So today is not my day 1 but will start tomo as im not for change do the 1st as it gives me excuses and not saying anything unless i have at least something and some AF FDs to actually write about.

Good to see some new peeps and thanks for seeing people join in this roller ball of giving up this poison x

Welcome May class members.

I'm glad you're here Macaroni. Becky, I know you can turn this around.

Silversky, 11 weeks is great and you can get back to it. :) Phebe, your plans sound very helpful. Erratic and Phoebe, welcome to May.

Good night, no drinking here.

Hope your day/evening is enjoyable and hopeful, as we gain sober muscle and faith in ourselves.

Here i am again. I hate myself. Over and over. I do think I can do this finally. I am just so sick of myself. I feel literally sick. I'm 40 now and really feeling it. I can't do this anymore.

Dee74 05-01-2021 09:23 PM

Welcome aboard letsdance :)
I think you can do this too - what kind of changes are you looking at to help make this happen?
