(((Tetra))) Ugh, my stomach is in knots....how awful that must have been! I, too, am known as "quiet" and still looking for my voice (without that liquid courage, lol) ~ I hope you can find something else that you can enjoy without so much stress and BS.....you deserve better!

Hello fellow Weekenders, on my 2nd cup of coffee already ~ just wanted to check in ~ I'll see you guys this evening! :Pumpkinwave:

Dublin airport is like a whiskey convention.
Wow do they turn it into something so stylish.
They even chase you down for tasting....

BixBees505 10-27-2017 05:00 AM

Morning everyone. Had a lovely weekend with extended family last weekend. I have been in the doldrums since the letdown after that event. Just...off. Tired, a bit depressed, whiney.

A young friend is coming to town and will stay with me a couple of nights...all to go “tasting” with friends at a local craft beer thing. Ive been paying no attention. Yes she can crash here, sans friends. No I’m not coming out for anything at all.

In a foul mood this morning.

Downthepath 10-27-2017 05:38 AM

Hello weekenders. Good to see you all.
Well done for going in, Tetra. That took courage. I think speaking to your consultant is a great idea.
Friday evening here. No way I'll be drinking.

BixBees505 10-27-2017 05:56 AM

SR never fails to orient me and lift my mood. Reading all over here is alternately steadying, hilarious, thought-provoking and back. So glad you all are here.

Off to work. See you later.

STDragon 10-27-2017 05:57 AM

Good morning. Gotta get started on the garage and see if I can't finish it off today.

Mish 10-27-2017 06:11 AM

Tetra your manager showed very poor leadership skills and clearly needs some professional development in that area. I commend you for going in to work despite that awful experience, it shows true strength of character. How people treat you is their karma, how you react is yours. Keep your head held high and know that we think you're awesome xxx

biminiblue 10-27-2017 08:04 AM

((Tetra))

Life. It can get annoying.

Not my life, though. :) All's well in my little corner of the dining room. It's a little foggy, maybe time to break out Phantom. I saw Phantom in Vegas a few years ago. So spine-tingly.

Have a great Friday. Make a plan, if people around you are going to be drinking I find it amusing to watch their inhibitions fly away after the second one. They don't even notice when I leave.

Thank you all for your words of support. I still don’t really know what to say. Anyway I had to drag myself to work on Wednesday and the doctors had their usual breakfast meeting and they bring down the left over scones and croissants for the secretaries. So when I eventually made it to work there was a paper plate on my desk with a croissant, pat of butter, small jar of jam and a napkin. I’d say someone knew I was absolutely devastated by the previous days events. My father said “that’s nice. Someone was thinking about you”.

So I just got off the phone with my best friend. I told her the story and she said “dear God, every office which is mostly female dominated has at least one incredibly lazy bully”. She said under no circumstances was I to ask for a transfer as I actually like my consultant now and no matter what department I go to, there will be another bully. I don’t know if that’s true :) but I do like my consultant. He gets very moody at times but to be fair he has never once raised his voice or criticized my work in any way (even when I made mistakes and I’ve made a fair few of those).

Anyway I made a great effort today to be chattier. But I just don’t like inane talk or gossip about this and that. Anyway I just have too much work to do to be sitting around chatting.

My best friend said “at least you sound brighter than you did when we had pizza on Sunday.

Anyway I’ll leave you all with this story:

I had a patient booked for admission last Friday for a manipulation of nasal bones. If you break your nose you have to get this done within 14 days - it’s a minor procedure - otherwise you go on the waiting list for a septorhinoplasty (basically a nose job and considered a cosmetic procedure and there are cancer patients who can’t get beds so a cosmetic procedure patient would get shafted in terms of a bed. Anyway the patient did not attend last week and he called me in Monday to say he was “sick” and wanted to be rebooked. So I rebooked him for today.

So my consultant arrived down at around 3 PM and we were chatting about this and that and I wished him a nice weekend. He was about to close the door and then doubled back and said “oh by the way rebook that patient again for next week. I couldn’t do the procedure today”. I asked why and he told me “we had him on the trolley all ready to go in the waiting bay, and the anesthetist happened to pass by and saw him swigging from a can of beer”.

Surprised and all as I was, I am in zero position to judge. I make it clear on the phone and highlight it in the letter “nothing to eat or drink after 8 AM, not even water.”

What surprised me though was the registrars response. (Of all of them he is my least favorite but I was trying to make small talk). I asked him if he heard about the patient drinking beer? And he started to laugh and said “yeah, I was there. Some people have a great life”.

I hope he was being sarcastic as it’s not a great life. I think a lot of the trainee doctors just don’t understand.

I did point out to my consultant that next Friday will be well beyond the 14 day rule and he said “yeah I know, but I’ll do the best I can for him”.

Anyway the few people I told said “well done for going to work on Wednesday. You are much stronger than you think”.

Now my dad says it’s time for me to forget about work until Tuesday. So I was feeling lazy and bought some pre-made lasagna from the deli. I bought 3 new books (this is why I’m always broke). I’m going to my parents tomorrow for steak and ice cream (not on the same plate) so that’s my weekend sorted.

And thanks to all of you for your support. You know I have had a hard life (even my dad said so). I have had many many many moments when I thought “I will NEVER get through this, but last Tuesday was the absolute worst of all. I was absolutely mortified.

hey all ,

been living in the future a bit too much recently and dwelling in the past, seem to have the procrastination fairy rising as well .

So i've been writing lists , it acts as a way to get it out my head so it's not repetitively going round in there .

I can go through the items on my list and indecision no longer stalks me .

i put some big things on the list but plenty of smaller things too , even brushing your teeth can go on there , doing so many steps , doing the washing up , sending a letter .

It helps me focus on now , it helps me make life less about whats in my head to actually doing something to help myself ..

my list is tops only about 12 items long .. i rewrite each day, keep it fresh keep the turnover up ..

Anyhow might help someone ...

Have a sober weekend y'all , m

Time2Rise 10-27-2017 02:17 PM

I trust you guys (I don't trust doc google)
Thanks.
Have a good night. I'm off the bed to try and stop this migraine getting a hold.x

biminiblue 10-27-2017 02:36 PM

Petals, here are the videos for the various methods of saline rinse:

NeilMed videos

...and of course there is a whole lot more you never wanted to know on its website.

It's pretty basic. 1/4 tsp of non-iodized salt (like Kosher salt) and 1/4 tsp of baking soda (or one pack of the solution/powder they sent you.) Mix in warm distilled water (or warm tap water that has been boiled and cooled.) Fill container with 1 cup of water and solution mix.

Then you can look at the videos to see how to use it.

The most important thing to get right is the mixture and the temperature. It really needs to be no warmer than body temperature, cooler is okay, but not cold and not too warm or it will sting.

There are video instructions on YouTube too. Just search for NeilMed.

God bless my mom for taking me to the store. I have things to eat and schoolwork to do. I am tucked in for the weekend.

Guys can I ask no more 'scary reveal' shock videos please.
I always get complaints about them - not everyone appreciates them.
