Crud! You beat me by mere seconds! Have fun at work! :)

Della1968 05-24-2015 07:46 PM

Thank you Dee.

It's good to see you Pouncer. Hang out for a bit :)

So I went to the wedding. It was lovely. Then at the end I had a little meltdown. Not over not drinking that didn't phase me. I had a pretty infamous DWI in January. This was the first big event I have been to since then. It was very draining being around that many people who knew about my rock bottom. I know I could have not gone but it was my best friends daughter's wedding and she is one of the few who stood by me unconditionally. I felt I needed to go for her. I am hoping now that I have done this it will get easier doing these things.

Totally different running into people here and there at Wal-Mart than to have 300 of them gathered in one spot all at once. Small town living in all it's glory. But I did eat cake :)

brynn 05-24-2015 07:51 PM

I was just wondering how the wedding went, Della. I'm glad you were able to test the waters a bit and get it over with....the next time will be easier I'm sure. Hope you can relax tonight maybe a bubble bath? Oh....what kind of cake and how did your hair turn out?

Ruby2 05-24-2015 08:03 PM

Way to go Della! I'm glad you survived it. Now you can kick off your shoes and relax. I'm doing that right now.

No one called "shotgun":)

Pouncer 05-24-2015 08:04 PM

I am doing blah. I have been dealing with ongoing PTSD issues for the last month. I get like this once every two years or so. It is unbearable - but somehow I didn't relapse. P doc gave me a short supply of benzos to get through it. Finding a new therapist who specializes in trauma/addiction. I came close to relapsing today, but didn't.

Glad to see Della, Dee, Ruby ZaB and all plugging along.

Della1968 05-24-2015 08:05 PM

It was chocolate and vanilla mixed. I would have rather had ice cream I don't love cake. The hair turned out good. Got it cut Fri so there would be less of it to color good thing because I didn't have extra time to mess with it! It's a little lighter than usual but it will be ok as long as I am tan.

For the record I hate Spanx. Sometimes they are a necessary evil but they may have had something to do with my meltdown.

Ruby2 05-24-2015 08:06 PM

At least this baby is one I don't have to get up every three hours to feed and change.

How are you Pouncer? Good to see you.

I'm off for ice cream. I'm sticking with my chunky monkey until I find a new absolute can't live without favorite

MesaMan 05-24-2015 08:08 PM

I eschew Spanx as well.

Della1968 05-24-2015 08:09 PM

Glad you didn't relapse Pouncer. I struggle with PTSD as well and usually have some sort of bender in Sept and Feb. I got through Feb and hope to be really solid in Sept. Just keep swimming.

brynn 05-24-2015 08:14 PM

Your hair sounds good Della and I'm with you on the ice cream. I've never worn spanx but I can only imagine they could wreak havoc on your emotions! Blah! The lengths we go to for beauty!

Pouncer 05-24-2015 08:18 PM

OMG, thank you for sharing, Della. I had a revelation that my response to everything is to numb or dissociate. Longstanding trauma conditions a person to survive by way of unhealthy habits. The trick to everything (sobriety, achievement, happiness) is to deal with how I deal.

This has been the worst period of PTSD I can remember and I got through it sober. That's a start.

Ruby2 05-24-2015 08:21 PM

I'm glad you're hanging in there Pouncer. You've really come far. You're strong.

Brynn, I've never worn spanx either. Della, I'm not anxious to try them. I'm glad your hair turned out well.

brynn 05-24-2015 08:30 PM

Well done, pouncer! I hope things get better for you soon.

Dee74 05-24-2015 08:32 PM

I just realized this was MM....I thought it was GettingSmarter! They have similar avatars!! Ha!

Ruby2 05-24-2015 08:38 PM

Yes, Brynn, it was Mesa Man. That cracked me up.

gettingsmarter 05-24-2015 09:04 PM

They have spanx for men now. I'd consider wearing them if I was going to be on Ninja Warrior.

brynn 05-24-2015 09:17 PM

Ninja warrior? I must be really out of the loop but sounds interesting! :)

Did you see the sun peek out this afternoon, GS?

gettingsmarter 05-24-2015 09:38 PM

It was nice seeing a few rays of light.
Ran my potted pepper plants outside for some sun.
Ninja Warrior was an obstacle course game show. I'm out of the loop too. Haven't had tv other than DVDs for almost 2 years now.

Pouncer 05-24-2015 09:48 PM

I can't stand the thought of Spanx. I have a few in my wardrobe. I used to shove myself into one of those like ground pork in a casing when I was 35 pounds heavier. It never helped.

Not drinking alcohol sure is a great way to lose weight.

gettingsmarter 05-24-2015 09:51 PM

Time to get some sleep. Everyone have a nice evening. Brynn it's ok now to pray that the rain stops now. The reservoirs around here are full.

Morning everyone Happy Holiday

Public holiday here in the UK too. Hopefully the weather will be better than yesterday .
Short street run this morning, nothing too strenuous

Lennox 05-25-2015 12:03 AM

Raining this part of the Uk however it's nice to be up early feeling fresh to even notice the weather. Last day of the long weekend....no anxiety, no withdrawals...feel fantastic! I am liking this sober stuff.

Hope everyone enjoys the last day of the long weekend!

After my girls were born, I had to wear seriously thick nude colored compression hose for awhile. I had to go to a black tie event and figured what the heck and wore a little black dress with full body shorts Spanx underneath. Along with my seriously thick compression hose I looked like I was ready for the Olympic Bobsledding or something. Not a single jiggle from head to toe.

Pouncer, Sorry you have been in a private trauma place but glad you were able to get help without drinking. Good to see you.

Good to see everyone.

Behan 05-25-2015 01:33 AM

Morning all,

The thread has continued apace overnight! So many funny and kind posts.

Glad you enjoyed wedding Della. I have been to one big social event sober so far. Well done for going and getting through.

Thanks for the pics Ruby and BigS.

Welcome back Pouncer.

After dinner, I watched a Norwegian film about a youth prison Island set in 1915. Great film, very sad. Based on a true story.

Still cloudy here this morning. Not sure what the day will bring.

Hi Pouncer good to see you back and sober , sorry to hear about the trauma but i'm sure keeping sober means you'll be able to start processing it rather than stuffing it down where it festers and we don't learn how to deal with it & just end up annihilating ourselves .

I pronounce it coffee time !

:)

Wow! Amazing show of support from all of you!

Hope everyone is doing ok this morning.

Really feels like vacation here. Tourist season is getting started but honestly does not hit stride until July 4th holiday. Of which I have another week off. Just sayin. :D

Thanks Dee for the flip!

Now... Sip my English breakfast tea and decide what will be the adventure du jour.
