Geez EGNY - let me go open my wrists right now. :cries3: I appreciate that my perspective is not for everyone, but I went through a lot to get there and, in the end, it works for me. The cries from those burning in hell make walking among the living both a sublime privilege and an inescapable obligation. |

Always good to have a spare fan belt , spark plugs & leads , rotor arm , dizzy cap ( depending on you vehicle) 1 1/2" -2" hose (depending on your car) and a few cir-clips jerry can of fuel and enough water and coolant to charge the system IMHO . tyre weld in a can . Wont take up much room in your trunk but it'd sure speed up the repairs if you have issues bigS . I tend to have 2 spare wipers in the boot too as when they go wrong it always seems to be in the middle of a rain storm . I tend to keep the old parts after a service as it can still be a useable spare . |

Thread looks like it's running out of steam. How's everyone doing? Patty, good to see you hanging in there. Brynn, what youthful hijinks do the kids usually engage in that they need help with? I'm home. Time to get kids in bed. I'm exhausted today. I ate too much. Now I'm taking my own quiet time. Maybe this week if I dig for just fifteen minutes a day, I'll get the weeds cleared so I can plant. We all have fifteen minutes to spare |
Sounds like a good plan of attack on the weeds, Ruby. Weeding is tough so breaking it up like that is smart. One weekend my legs were total jello from overdoing it. |
Watching 'Tiny House Nation', and listening to Thunder roll in/by. Really dark, due to Clouds. These Gents are building a neato new House to replace one lost during Hurricane Katrina. Relatively, my Life is a breeze! Reheated some BBQ, and just finished some wicked-good mixed Fruit w/Whipped Cream. The only bad thing happening to me today is that I left a Ginger Beer in the Freezer. It popped the Cap off, but didn't really make a mess. Screw-on Caps save the day! I'm spraying some Vinegar on a suspect Stain in the Basement which may be the source of the 'interesting' smell I've been fighting the last few days. It was under the Freezer I moved to Vacuum behind. I have no idea what it is, and Concrete is way porous. But, it seems to be fading. This means I'm likely on to the correct Root Cause. Before this breakthrough, I was just kickin' Horse Turds, and guessing. Cause & Effect -> good. Kickin' Horse Turds -> bad. That is all. . |
I'm doing great, Ruby2. Just got back from helping my dad move some couches out of the way at their house. They've got a new living room set coming this week and Goodwill coming to pick up the old ones tomorrow. As a reward, had dinner with them. Fried pork chops and baked potato. Good basic Southern home cooked meal. It hit the spot. |
MesaMan, sounds like you're on the right track - might be good to remove that stain before the police arrive, eh? ;) Back from the trip to Mos Eisley...er....Guatemala City. Picked up my car at the mechanic's taco shop. He did a great job, it was very inexpensive, and I made a couple friends out of the experience. Car ran great all the way home, purred like a kitty. Stopped at the fancy grocery store as planned, got cookies'n'cream ice cream for later, just had a big salad for dinner. Have Game of Thrones recorded waiting for me to get the evening started, then a long nice sleep before work tomorrow. Great seeing you all this weekend, sharing the (mostly) ups and (few) downs is always a pleasure. Some great pix this weekend, Weasel your Maine shots have been a real treat, and I always like checking out your pix of Olde London Towne Saochick. Hasta proxima vez, amigos! |

"Antsy?" . . . I too Googled 'spanx'. Not my finest hour. I'll need to edit my Google search history and then do searches to replace that history with things like 'Sartre', 'Baudelaire', 'Higgs Boson', 'Neurotic Styles', 'Love and Will', and 'Psychology and the Human Dilemma'. Never mind. :peek |
Where is Brain?? |
Casey, what a great thing to do! That sounds great! BigS, isn't it great when the car just feels fixed? Love it! And a trustworthy competent mechanic is always worth their weight in golden tacos |
Della, my surfing history is super eclectic too. Free rein. Sometimes started with a place or thing someone mentions on here. I feel so much more well rounded. And you're right. Brain! How are you doing? |
Hey everyone. Went to the parents to eat memorial day roast and saw Mad Max. If you like action, that doesn't stop, go see it!well I'm grateful to have gotten through my first sober memorial weekend . Thanks for hanging everyone. |
Good job gettingsmarter! That's awesome! Sober, no hangover and some action adventure. A good day, right? I'm getting ready to head to bed. Work tomorrow but a four day week so not too bad. |
Made it through the weekend. For me it was four days. Did some fishing alone and with my daughter, taking it easy at home, picnic with my wife and kids another day. Passed many large MD gatherings around grills in various parks (California is full of great public parks). I saw corona's hoisted, wine glasses clinked- and didn't miss it. Not for a second. Congrats to all who weathered the weekend and still have their sobriety and clarity intact. Short workweek this time around. |
Morning, At my desk at work😐 but feeling better than last night. Congratulations to everyone who made it thru the long weekend |
Cool saout , Getting back to the sober routine will be helpful , it's worth while seeing what you can add to your sober experience . Go on a flying lesson , water ski, sing in a choir, join a running or hiking club, volunteer at weekends with cats and dogs home, evening classes .. all of these will be social and fun , drinking will be a negligible part of the social side which you can skip and it won't really be noticed . These people won't know a different you . We no longer get a social life by default through being bar flys , hanging round with other self involved drunks talking rubbish we can't remember, rinse and repeat . Effort is required now to do interesting things and that will hopefully lead to interesting people to get to know . Stay the course , whats the next right thing to do ? Bestwishes, m |
Morning team! Was out and about yesterday so not on here much. Will be around today. Hopefully a beach day as the weather clears. I have to catch up with everyone. See you in a bit! K |
Whelp.... I am gonna miss you all for the remainder of my vacation. Definite beach day today. The weather is perfect! Oh.... I need to get lotion. I don't usually burn and get a nice tan but I also never really ever lay out. Not a fan of baking myself. I think I need the help a thread will bring me. I am gonna start a vacation minder thread for myself in between the weekenders. I trust myself but I need support as the real part of the vacation begins when everyone else is at work. Thank you all so much. There were lots of great successes this weekend! If you didn't make it please owe it to yourself to go easy on the negative self talk and start again today. Everyday sober is a blessing. You can live sober!!!! Ken |
Morning all, Well done to everyone on getting through the weekend!! Glad your feeling better Sao - your thought regarding socialising without alcohol are familiar to me. It's still early days. We need to give ourselves time. Thanks for posting - glad I'm not the only one!!! K - defo start a vacation thread. Not only are we here to support you but many of us want to have a vacation in Maine so it's a win-win!!!! :) My best wishes everyone for the week ahead. B P.S. Brain, Brain, where art thou LBrain? |
Glad you feel better Sao! Back to work which is good I tend to get bored easily 4 days off is too much for me unless I am going away or doing a major project on the house. I guess I should work on that too. My poor counselor! I am surprised she hasn't brought in students to observe my weirdness. |
Sorry I have been mostly MIA from this thread this weekend. By sheer volume it looks like it was rocking! I spent most of my weekend either working on my business plan or sitting out by the pool with Mrs. Non. The weather was grand and I get points for together time. (to recap, I had surgery last Wednesday to repair a hernia, so I'm a bit laid up.) Going back to work today. Flushing the rest of the Vicodin today, too. The pain is tolerable, but I popped one at 1 a.m. last night because I was awake and I knew it would help me sleep. It worked, but that isn't what they are for, so Sayonara! Hope everyone has a fantabulous week! :ring |
Wow, I made it. Not surprised that I made it as much as I'm surprised how comfortable in my own skin I am. Day 9 today and it's definitely getting easier. Aside from my evening cravings I'm feeling very much like myself now and not as anxious. Sleep is coming easier and waking up sober is pretty wonderful compared to the old me. This place is great. Really helped me focus on the prize and not the "addicted loss". |
Congrats MC!!! Glad you found us. Join in next week and update us! Have a great week! |
Congrats MChill, I'm glad you made it. That's big! Sao, glad you're feeling better. How far are you now? I had a stretch where the weight of the universe was perched on my shoulders and it was very uncomfortable. I pushed thru by coming on here a lot. It passed. And as Behan said, neither of you is alone. Mec, I absolutely love your comment on social life by default. So true. We do have to work a bit harder but it is there. We just have to find it. Back to work. We'll see what the day brings. Della, I'm with you. Long stretches get to me. I'll be checking weasel's vacation support thread. I want a Maine vacation. |
I think I am going to Maine in the fall...I would move there in a second. |
