I had to learn that I was different, that I don't drink like social drinkers. I wanted it all!! I was mad that other people could drink it and I couldn't. Heck, they didn't even really want it and I NEEDED it!! Alcohol will always be around us. I had to accept that and the fact that I no longer drink. If I am in a fit spiritual condition, I can be around alcohol. If I am not at peace with myself, I stay the hell away from it!! I was in a different (bigger) town the other day. I swear I found every beer joint in that town searching for a coffee shop!! I was a little irritated. Sad that we (alcoholics) don't have anywhere to go. But I just went to good ole Hardees and got me a cup of coffee. It takes time to be able to accept our thoughts and feeling. How we ARE different then others. I can spot a beer can on the side of the road, when other people don't even notice it. Hang in there, it does get better. yES, I am hanging in there and today is 20 days of sobriety, I never thought I would make it this far and I am not quitting, and I get what you are saying about not banning alcohol, it is just almost everyplace you go around where I live there is alcohol, one time a week ago or so my family was gonna go out to eat and my husband suggested one place he thought did'nt have alcohol and then I told him they did so we went to Golden Corral instead which is a buffet style restaurant with no alcohol. I know some people can drink with no problems, but I know we can't and sometimes I get frustrated especially in the beginning cause I would ask myself :"Why Me?"- I am sure you know what I mean. 21 DAYS SOBER and not quitting and Little Missy I know what you mean about Chucky Cheese-I knew they had alcohol cause went to a few birthday parties for my kids several years ago, you would think a place geared towards kids wouldnt have alcohol-oh well guess I'll have to stay away from those places for awhile, that is places with alcohol |
