V San Francisco is a lovely place to visit. Perhaps, you can talk them into a drive up to see the redwood woods https://www.nps.gov/redw/index.htm Try to avoid earthquakes My wife's grandma was in the early 20th Century quake with Caruso, who complained that it made him "nervous".:dee Why not stop off and see the Grand Canyon? "Pretty big hole!" said Calvin Coolidge. Bill |
Good morning Bill. :) ♥ |
Don't forget Niagara Falls. Someone told me about a kid who looked at the Grand Canyon and said, "If you think this is a big deal, you ought to see Niagara Falls!" (See the prophet Amos. "Let Justice roll down like the waters! And righteousness like a mighty stream!") Travel insurance will not cover you if you go over the Falls in a barrel. Same thing for tightrope walking. Bill |

I'm very excited for you, Suze. All these sound like great suggestions. :) |

The Greenbrier! My husband and I went there for our 25th anniversary! The place is magnificent. I especially recommend the spa. The bunker was mainly what we came for--but you can only see a few preserved rooms (a bunk room, a cafeteria, the infirmary); the rest has been bought by a railroad company, which now uses the majority of the space for data storage. When we were there 7 years ago, a van drove us right through the massive steel doors underneath the main resort; however, I've heard that they don't do that anymore. So if I were going back today, I wouldn't put my hopes in the bunker. It's a vast old resort that is amazing to explore. The spa, as I've said is out of this world ( I loved the Scotch Spray). The food is excellent--and now apparently they've transformed what was an abandoned nightclub from the 1960s into a classy casino. So I definitely recommend it--but sadly, no longer for the bunker. |
Note: it's a budget buster. Kiss those dollars goodbye! :scared: |

I'm going to be on my own, and I won't be driving....I am staying in San Francisco for 6 days....I am really looking forward to touring the city. Then I have another week to go.....where...I don't know.....lots of SR buddies to see I hope, perhaps down to San Diego, maybe spend a few days in LA before I fly back....I wasn't going to, but I think I've changed my mind. I think I want to see Santa Monica and Venice Beach. :) I do appreciate all of the suggestions; I am just a little nervous today ~ I am exhausted and run-down, and my head is spinning. Time to look after myself....I have been instructed this is my job for the day. |

Yes....but not really the kind of things I will be doing. :) Love and good morning. ♥ Bill. |
:ham3 |
Suze: That could be San Diego unless you want to go to Chile or northwestern Spain. I've heard that Venice south of Santa Monica is a rather druggie place. Unless it's changed. So relax and don't try to "plan" too much. Leave some options open. See how things go;, go with the flow. Go pet a Koala Bear (do they bite?) Bill |
Ha ha ha....see, I'm tired. Thank you. And geography is not my strong suit.....and hey, Chlie looks nice. ;) |
DearSuze: Glad you had a laugh. I confess I was teasing you a bit since your planning seemed to be taking you all over the U.S I've become a great fan of "Easy Does It" , not invented by AA, but by the Taoists in the 5th Cent. B.C. along with "Go With the Flow", "One step at a Time." All Chinese. The essence of it all is Love, Understanding, Moderation, Simplicity, Forgiveness. In my earlier days I was too compulsive, obsessive, lacking in moderation, self centered. I question whether they caused my drinking but they may have impeded my recovery. The pillars of the Parthenon look simple but they are actually rather complex, changing shape slightly towards the top . A nice old architect taught me that. Same thing with a golf or tennis swing. Looks easy, simple, but excellence takes tons of training. Going with the flow helps.. So relax a bit, take it easy. Ask your doc for a short term prescription if it would make your travel easier. I have done that and have not had addiction problems. Helps me in strange surroundings. Finally, don't worry about the cat too much. I'm well known, however, for calling home to find out how the dog is doing. One kennel said, "He's O.K. but busy. He's talking on another line. Shall I hold your call or tell him to call you back?" Woof, Sniff and a Tail Wag from Massachusetts! Bill and Boswell |
