. Nuffin' like some ancient, Water-eroded Limestone to remind me that what we all face is - to some degree - transient. Including my lil ole Issues... This Limestone Wall was at a Waterfall we just visited. There were plenty of narrow Caves, and you could feel the breezes coursing through them. I opted out of squeezing into them to capture a Pic of actual Guano. I popped awake - refreshed & Sober - to the distant sound of some Coyotes yelping in chorus. This usually means a Score of Coyote -> 1 ~ Bunny -> 0, since they call out after a Hunt. Super Pix here, and some yummy Food talk! One more Weekend Day to power through, so hang tight Sports Fans! All this Cher talk yesterday reminded me of this flamboyant Show Tune that has a fine message for us all... - 'I Will Survive' ~ Priscilla ~ Queen Of The Desert - http://i62.tinypic.com/2e3x28j.jpg . |
Afternoon weekenders |
Good morning eveyone. I can't possibly catch up cause I don't have the time this morning. I missed all day yesterday cause I went on a road trip with friends. ..I didn't drive but I'm still tired today. It was really fun. This is a new group of friends that I met in sobriety, since I got out and started living again. I am very grateful. My poor doggies didn't get a walk yesterday and we're home alone all day and til late last night. They are waiting for a morning walk. Then I'm going to freeze a load of peaches...I think it was brain who said blanch, peel, dip in lemon water, and freeze. Gonna try it that way. Della...I hope you are feeling better today. Life does have its struggles. Fortunately they do pass. ok-I'll check in later- |
I am much better. Thank you everyone :) |
. Some hopeful Music, Maestro, for powering through 'those' times... - 'What A Difference A Day Makes' ~ Dinah Washington - . |
I powered through a down day yesterday and came out the other side better today. A nice homey day spent with all of you. I am having a guilty pleasure for lunch. I love the thin crust frozen supreme pizza with the caramelized onions. Will put the corned beef on later for a few hours. Damn thing was $20 bucks! There is nothing that helps me more than taking care of myself. Now to pick out a movie. I want to catch up a little too... Glad you are feeling better Della!!! Love ya! Ken |
So how did I do with the sharing this weekend? Does it count if you share with yourself? LOL I don't have many opportunities since I don't have many friends. By design not cuz I am an ass or anything... for those that are wondering. :) Still need to rebuild sober friends list. So I created the opportunities. I smiled at everyone. Even the grumpy ones. I was a bit more friendly and conversational with clerks and wait staff. And I shared a new pair of Caterpillar boots with myself. Not so bad. But it feels good to be nicer so why stop huh? OK.. pizza is in the oven. Later! |
So weird. My dog has always been afraid of the kitchen, I figured it's cuz she doesn't like the slippery floor although she's fine on the other tiled floors in the house. Well she has refused to eat the last few days. I keep the food and water just outside the kitchen door. I thought maybe it was because she threw up on Friday so maybe wasn't feeling well but it's been almost 48 hours and she's acting hungry but won't go near her food or water. I moved them out to the living room and she devoured it while sneaking glances behind her at the kitchen. It's kind of creeping me out like maybe there's something I ought to be afraid of in the kitchen too!! She'd rather go hungry than go near the kitchen for 2 days! She's a golden retriever so she will eat anything, anytime, anywhere. Tres bizarre. I hope I don't have a little ghostie in my kitchen lol |
Glad you're feeling better today Della and Ken  I've been on a mission the past two days to find a good cantaloupe....no luck. They're all hard as a rock and tasteless! I don't even like cantaloupe but got it in my head that I was going to make this appetizer that requires cantaloupe blah! But If that's the worst problem I have today, then I'd say life is pretty good! :) I asked my guy if he wanted me to get rid of all the liquor in the house before he comes home from rehab. He's thinking about it. I don't like having it here. Even though I'll never drink again, there are days where just knowing it's here makes me feel off balance and vulnerable. When I read Della's post from last night it brought home how having it here is probably not the greatest idea. Still waiting for that donut delivery. :) |
brynn , I find it's better to not have alcohol around the house , the "friends" who like to drink don't come round because I don't drink anymore . Far easier to remove myself from "the edge" another step by ensuring alcohol is a walk to the end of the road away or a drive to the supermarket away . If any visitor is that gaspingly desperate they can go there themselves if they find tea , coffee, water or juices unpalatable . The more exit ramps and chances i give myself to stay sober , make it the easy choice and right thing to do the better . m |
. Boy, zenchaser, it sounds as if you've an unearthly Kitchen 'Visitor'! A fine excuse for Dog Pictures! Here's our Goldie while Camping with us this Week. The Leash temporarily prevents him from running out to greet/overwhelm fellow Geezers walking by. His 'new' Behavior was to put out this low growl when he saw Folks setting up Tents in darkness some distance away in only our Campfire Light. Protecting us, and doing a fine job at it! See his absolute look-alike in the wonderful Vid linked below about 09/11 on this appropriate Weekend. OK, time for some kinda Breakfast... . - 'Dog's Best Day' ~ The Last Surviving 09/11 Rescue Dog - . http://i59.tinypic.com/nqwnia.jpg . |
I am SO NOT clicking on any video that says, "9/11's last surviving rescue dog," because I am a softie and I don't wanna cry on this Sunday morning. I do everything in my power to avoid crying about other peoples' tragedies. I mean, I have enough of my own problems. Nope! My breakfast is cooking. I'm having a chili-cheese omelet and hash browns. The bacon is frozen. Today will be laundry day. The hamper is full and overflowing. That's good, it means I've been out of the house and busy. I think summer is screeching to a halt here in the NW, but yesterday at the beach it was hot enough to have to get in the water - so that was what I did. So far it's cool and cloudy. Perfect laundry weather. |

I killed the thread. Excellent. Oh, oops - thanks Zen, you saved me! |

Dogs with phobias - I sense a tv show idea Yes I am glad Della and Ken you are both feeling better today I have these really large tiles in the bathroom that are supposed to look like limestone, trouble is they are about as difficult to keep clean and damp free as the real thing. I have to re grout the bottom half of the shower every 3 or 4 months. They go down as a bad buy. Until the Lancia is sold next year I can't afford a new bathroom (or anything else much lol!) Talking of which I now have two shiny stainless steel exhausts. Nowhere near to putting them in yet but I am vaguely close to the point of fitting the engine and gearbox. One bit of money I can save is on the electrics, I was expecting to pay someone to do them but 1960s electrics are pretty basic so I might be able to do them myself |
Cute dogs! I always want a dog or cat but I don't want to deal with the shedding everywhere. I'm a clean freak and it would drive me nuts! Hope I can get over that one day. Sao...after all the work you've put into the Lancia will you be able to part with it? |

I live a hundred feet from a 40 mile long bike trail. It amazes me how many people ride bikes while talking on their phones or smoking. I would crash. There are some interesting bicycle-rigs out there. Lots of reclining ones that look really unstable to me, some that are enclosed like rocket ships. That makes some sense here in the rainy NW, but I'll bet they're expensive - or maybe homemade...Sao - project! http://www.electric-bikes.com/betterbikes/better01.jpg There are a surprising number of people out on the trail at night, too. I see all kinds of lighting systems buzzing by. |
Mecanix! I love where your mind's at today! 'There is nothing that helps me more than taking care of myself.' 'The more exit ramps and chances i give myself to stay sober , make it the easy choice and right thing to do the better.' Yes! I love it! Brynn, ditch the alcohol. It doesn't matter how much you paid for it or if you think you'll have guests. You will not regret not having alcohol in the house, there is no way. But you will regret having it in the house, sitting around like the answer to a bad day. Just my two cents but I hope you throw it away. We are off to Marvel Live in a minute here! My son's mind is going to be blown, he hasn't been to anything like this. He's watching videos from it now and saying Go now? go now? go now? Adorable :) It's going to be a beautiful sober day! |
