Take it easy on yourself Kitty. We are all learning how to do this.....the first lesson is that you have to keep trying. You can do it.

Linners....apparently it takes about 4 days to get it all out of your system.....

Day 3 here. Naltrexone in the garbage. Found out it makes me physically ill whether I drink on it or not.

Apart from divine intervention, I'm gonna need a better plan.

Dee74 02-03-2019 03:10 PM

Never tried it but it stands to reason naltrexone is not for everyone...no drug is.

It's probably also true that there are initial side effects that may settle down in time, though....

Could be worth discussing the experience with your Dr Offthemast?

This is a good link on recovery action plans and what that might mean to you

Evening day 3. Finally dozed off after 3 days no sleep only to be greeted with nightmares and jolted awake. Glad I have no booze around because detoxing is torture....just want sleep.

I hope the dreams will fade and that you'll soon find a sober sleep rhythm Canuck76 :)

AwkwardKitty: the important thing is that you came back to the class and were honest. I've slipped so many times but recently lost a job that I love. The consequence of my drinking woke me up. What happened yesterday doesn't have to happen to you today. Stay in the class PLEASE!

Canuck: Glad things are some what better and you are getting through alcohol free.

Congratulations to everyone who enjoyed or persevered without picking up on the third day of February!

Evening all.

Back home from a day's work. Feel tired but good. Had been in a bad pattern, drink at night, haul myself through the working day, then the 'sweet release' at the other end. But, really....You just wind up suffering through 20 hours of the day for 4 hours or so out of it. Its not a good deal....anymore.

Canuck....sleep does come, and you should be getting closer. When it does, its worth it.....you wake feeling like another human entirely. Stick with it if you can.

Ok, go and do something for a couple of hours, cook some dinner, then sit in front of the TV tinkering with the laptop. Sober living seems good right now.

I am already ahead of you. Eating, TV, SR all in process. I remember checking into a detox facility once to be safe. I sat on a cot in the dark for 2 days surrounded by other cots. No TV, phones, or food allowed. I think it was supposed to be for homeless. I lived close by. It was hell

Day 17 is here, really proud of myself too.
I've been tapering off baclofen too which has given me a mild but continuous anxiety and confusion that would normally of stopped about day 5. :(
Today is the 2nd day ive been really tempted by the booze. Hrm. I'll beat it but the urge is there..
I can do this.

Hello everyone

Im in for February. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, take your pick!) im going again to be sober.

24 July 2018 I quit. Was sober for 50 odd days. Since September I’ve been sober more than drunk but I keep fecking it up. Terrible bender this weekend, I’m at my wits end. I can be sober for a week or so but keep falling.

Anyway, I’m here and I go again. I love being sober and I hate, really really hate what this fecking drug has done to me. What I’ve done to myself

I think I might join Feb class, I'm in Jan class also but not fully connected.
I also some familiar names, can guy, ben123? And my beloved xxxnicholexxx 😊 plus some Jan class mates..
Welcome to Freedom February everyone. I'm on day 14 and loving every second of it so far, I haven't had cravings and have been put in the way of drinking and didn't falter nor feel like drinking and feel great for it, that's not to say it will always be like that but so far so good..
Looking forward to an awesome February not held down by chains..

Canuck76 02-04-2019 03:49 AM

Just arrived at an early AA meeting. The early morning crowd dressed for work. They can probably tell I haven't slept since they got off work last Friday Haha. Still detoxing...

Canuck76 02-04-2019 04:55 AM

Made it through the AA meeting, just barely. I was sketched out and sweating. Day 4. No sleep at all. I am going crazy!

Linners820 02-04-2019 05:02 AM

Canuck, I'm glad you're at a meeting. If you can't sleep it's the best place for you to be. This too shall pass!! For what it's worth I had a crap sleep last night (eve of day 2) with very little actual sleep and some rotten dreams thrown in for good measure. But I got up this morning without the "anxiety jolt" and horrific hangover.

Starting day 3 here. Very sore from painting yesterday. Planning to have some coffee, shower, and go to a couple appointments. The weather is mild here today so I'm going to walk my dog later too and get some fresh air.
